All Them Scoops

Went for Pistachio and the Dark Chocolate here! Both textures were nicely thick, smooth with a good amount of stickiness, but I personally found them too sweet, especially the Pistachio. Flavours were rich though!

Golden Moments ain’t kidding with their newly launched Mao Shan Wang Durian ice cream. They call it ice cream but we’d say it’s just like eating frozen msw omg - and they do use 100% msw flesh with no other artificial flavourings! Theirs is for sure the most GAOOO ones we’ve had thus far. It’s super rich and intense, though it does lean to the much sweeter end. Definitely recommend to leave it to sit for a while to get that thick creamy texture.

COTTA’s quietly tucked on the 2nd floor of one of the shophouses along Tanjong Pagar Road - we thought they were closed until we went closer! Had their waffles with a double scoop of Muscat Grape Sake and Sicilian Pistachio.

I prefer waffles with a more chewy centre, but if you’re a fan of more airy and light ones, theirs is that with a biscuity sort of crisp throughout. This was kinda too crunchy for me as a whole. The sweet Muscat Grape Sake really reminded us of the hi-chew grape chewy candy (does anyone remember that! 😂) with a hint of alcoholic touch at the back, while our preferred Sicilian Pistachio was rich, creamy and nutty. Other flavours sound fun too, with options like Zesty Pink Guava, House Matcha Blend & Cookies, etc. Staff and owner were very friendly!

Continuing the ice cream runs, this time to Around, at their AMK outlet. We got ours with Burpple Beyond - a 1 for 1 half waffle and a scoop set, so that made up for a full sized one! Found the Hojicha distinct but a bit icy, while the Gula Melaka Avocado had a thick and slight sticky texture that I wasn’t a big fan of. Waffle was quite fragrant, but could have been a lot more crisp!

The single scoops are $3.90, doubles are at $7, with a top up of $1 for premium flavours. Waffle’s at $7.90.

Popped by NOM Gelato! It’s currently their soft launch period from 27-29 Aug, 1pm to 10.30pm. Have been eyeing to get their pints previously and happy they now have their own space - that means being able to try more flavours before committing to the pints 😛

Went with a double scoop of Strawberry with Balsamic and Mascarpone & Honey Figs. Really loved the Strawberry with Balsamic, it was very well balanced with the mildly sweet strawberry and mellow tartness of balsamic. Texture was what we liked, creamy without being overly sticky. The Mascarpone & Honey Figs was a much light flavour. I wasn’t a fan of the aftertaste of the honey figs though, so I’d skip this next time.

Would love to head back soon to try their 72% Dark Chocolate and Bronte Pistachio! They have super wacky flavours too like Olive Oil & Rosemary, Blue Cheese with Walnut Praline, etc. Single scoops are at $5 each, a dollar top up for premium flavours or add on of a cone, while the pints are $17/$20.

New ice cream spot in the AMK neighborhood! Their single scoops are $3.50 and there’s a top up of $1 for the premium flavours. This spot caught our eye cause of their cool big selection of flavours that rotate daily. They had flavours like Matcha Kit Kat, Mai Pian Cereal, SoyaBean Dough Fritter, Salted Caramel Popcorn, etc.

Ricotta Cheese with Pistachio was immediately our first pick! The pistachio was more of the additional topping and not so much incorporated in the base. Would have liked the cheese to be more distinct, but we did enjoy the creamy texture of the scoop, so we’re surely coming back to try the other flavors with their waffle.

The owner and service staff were super friendly! Apart from desserts, they serve a number of drinks and even viet drip coffee.

Pistachio & Double Belgian from this new gelato spot at Midpoint Orchard - it’s next to Courts, just opposite of 313 Somerset. Their scoops are $5 for single, $9 for double and a dollar top up for premium flavours.

Found the scoops a bit too sweet - but shared our feedback with the young owner who was super friendly! Appreciated the openness to suggestions and even the mini mystery tasting for a flavour they’re working on. They have a pretty good selection of flavours and are continuously doing r&d to improve. We saw this cool ‘Over the Moon’ flavour that has white lotus paste with osmanthus oolong topped w melon seeds. They pride themselves for using quality ingredients to make their gelatos, with no additional flavourings etc.

If you’re on Burpple Beyond, they’re on for 1 for 1 scoops too! ✨

Tom’s will always have a special place in my heart (and stomach) heh 😂 Have been coming here for the longest time! My foreverrr bias is their savory flavour: Parmesan Cheese & Cream Crackers, made with 14-month parmigiano-reggiano cheese with white choco coated cream crackers.

Love how the team is always looking to come up with new & locally inspired flavours. You’ll probably have difficulty deciding with their whole range of flavours on rotation, so it’s especially helpful that you get to pick 2 flavours with each cup! Who doesn’t like the sound of ‘1 for 1 gelato scoops’! It’s the last 2 days of promo (till 27 June) now at Sweet Cheeks’ new outlet in Jalan Besar (just opp of Chye Seng Huat)! We popped by yesterday to catch a pre-dinner dessert heh.

Single scoop is at $4, doubles at $7.50, with a dollar top up for premium flavours and $2 top up for gourmet flavours. Waffle at $6.

Had their Honey Chrysanthemum & Cacao Nibs + Biscoff Cookie Crunch on a waffle with golden syrup drizzled on the base. The other sauce option was chocolate. Scoops here have a much thicker and stickier texture, and you’ll find a pretty wide range - others that caught our eye was the Lemon Curd and Honey Comb. Highlight for us, was their buttery waffle! Haven’t had waffle for a while now and this was so fragrant, with a really nice and light crisp on its exterior. Fluffy and not too airy!

Still one of our go-tos for a trusty and rich dark chocolate ice cream treat!

Got to try Poppy Pops’ gelato thanks to a dear friend who sent these pints over! They have fun flavours that rotate monthly, with new additions each time - a few from this month of May are Thai Milk Tea Coconut Fudge, Truffle Honey & Chilli Mango! Had the classic Chocolate ($13) and Brown Sugar Raspberry ($13). The chocolate was thick and not too sweet, while the brown sugar raspberry was an interesting one! It was a lighter flavour that had a light brown sugar sweetness with slightly more tangy swirls of raspberry. Definitely would have loved more raspberry in this, but we still quite enjoyed it. Their spot at JEM is open for takeaways now, with free islandwide delivery for orders above $50.

Redeemed this for free with a MBS voucher. It is pricey at its original price tag, but it was also a super rich, dense and sinful scoop of chocolate hazelnut gelato. Texture was thick and smooth. It was more on the sweeter end than what we usually prefer, but we didn’t mind the indulgence! If you have Burpple Beyond, you can get 1 for 1 of their regular scoops, chocolate bars and mix chocolates.
