One thing good about Antipodean is that they definitely don't skimp on the portions.
This post breakfast Burmese Chicken Salad turned out to be quite delightful.
You get a generous pile of julienned white cabbage, topped with their shredded chicken (not overly tough), caramelized onion goodness and adorned with plum tomatoes on the side.
As you dig in, hidden inside are some spinach leaves and diced tomatoes, while the yellowish salad dressing oozes out.
I suspect it's some sort of satay marinade (not the peanut sauce)
The tangy dressing combined with the sweet caramelized onions and crunchy cabbage makes for a delightful and not too heavy combination.
Would order again!
Succumbed to the Char-acteristic smoky, caramelised texture replete with old world Char-m of wood-roasted meats. This signature Char Siew was indeed off the Char-ts with its melt-in-the mouth texture and its gooey thick Char Siew sauce. The best part came when this piece of Char Siew was Char-ged to the boy's credit card š
My rule of thumb is that if there is a queue forming even before the store opens, you can expect the food to be decently good (at times) and I was not disappointed with my Tendon at Ginza Tendon Itsuki and that includes the whole dinning experience. Sitting at the counter, I was so excited by the sight of the Tendon being assembled in those elegant Arita porcelain bowls and just all the smells.
At $13.90++ a bowl of Special Tendon comes with an awesome tempura egg hidden under two pieces of tempura chicken breast, two prawns, and a mixture of deep fried vegetables (mushroom, melon, baby corn and french beans) piled high above a bed of rice. Each set also came with a serving of chawanmushi and miso soup. A satisfying bowl of Tendon, I really liked how the batter was light, thin, not at all greasy and love the sweetness of the sauce as well as the crunchy vegetables. Definitely worth a second visit and the wait!
