Really good and halal mochi! Comes in a variety of flavors, premium ones, and monthly ones. A trio of mochi costs $5.90, but with an army of enticing and cute looking flavors, I had to get a box of 6. And we can mix and match premium mochi too!

Mochi lovers, rejoice!

It was a birthday treat from one of my best friend, and it was one of the best quality food I've tasted! Not considering its hefty price tag though. Sobs.

I had mushroom and veggie quesadilla which tasted mad healthy, while my best friend had catch of the day which tasted like the ocean. Yum!

The most memorable for me was their churros. There's a lot of great churros out there in Singapore nowadays, but what made this one of the best was the accompaniment served along with it. That concoction of mango and berries with sweet and light cream tasted like a piece of heaven. I could go back there just to have this dessert again. Definitely a reccomended makan place, especially if it's your bonus month! ;-)

The halal Asian BBQ and Grill stall at the Food Junction is owned by a former contestant of Suria's King Juara Memasak 2014. I went with two of my good colleagues. After all, it was just a few minutes away from MOE Heritage Centre near our school. We were tired from having a long day of classes and we're hoping the journey would be worth it.

It was!

We didn't get lost this time even though we didn't use Google maps (much). It was a food junction ala hawker style. Thus, it was not air-conditioned and most stalls were self-service. The first thing we did was to order drinks. I had the chicken with beetroot (I forgot what it's called) sandwich which was tasty for something with beetroot in it. Honestly I was just trying to be adventurous and deviate from what I would usually order... turned out it appeared as if I was eating clean that day. My friends ordered some cheesy fries (omg it was so good, but anything with cheese IS good), and various steak and chicken chops. They gave a good verdict for their food too.
I will be back to try more of their menu!

The only thing I like about Curry Times is their concept. It felt like I had stepped back into the 60's and 70's with their decor and uniform of the staff. Otherwise, the food was unfortunately forgettable. With a great concept as such, food that packs the same punch would be a clear winner.

Their noodle soups were not very flavorful. Nasi lemak pictured was average. We've had tastier curry before. The best I had was their dry Tom Yum seafood noodle. But unfortunately the quality of the dish was not consistent - at times it was spot on with generous seafood portions, and at other times it was seasoned too much or too dry.

Price was average for most dishes. Slightly expensive if you consider forking out $7+ for this Nasi Lemak (mains).

Another cafe (mis) adventure for us! Well, not really that bad. It was just confusing that staff would 'abandon' their stations even if there were no diners. Maybe there were no diners because there were no staff? Hmm. Anyway we were hesitant to enter at first because the place was kosong; no diners, no staff around! Literally. (Yay I can use this infuriating word finally.) It looked as if the place was abandoned because of a sudden zombie outbreak - yes we have too much imagination for our own good. Nonetheless, my friend, ala Samwise the Brave, plucked up the courage to venture into the place and peeped into the very dark kitchen. After moments, she detected a presence and it was one of the staff. We sat down, ordered, while she returned to the kitchen after handing us the menu.

Oh well.

After a while, customers started trickling in and she and her friend had to finally be present to serve. I guess it's just common integrity for staff to be available at their workstations during working hours. Furthermore, there was a glass-door refrigerator at the entrance where anyone with questionable morals might just swipe a packaged dessert.

I had visited once before and I could see the service quality had declined, but not the food. Thank goodness! For those who are looking for excellent Chinese style desserts, this is highly recommended. So far, we've tasted the Milk Pudding, Durian and Mango pancakes (shown in picture), Mango dessert with mango slices and chewy balls, and their Pulut Hitam. Everything was delicious. We just hope that service quality will improve in the future.

We went on a weekday afternoon, thus there were not many people, which enhanced the relaxed atmosphere there. My friend and I again relied on Google Maps and it was another day of hilarity and chaos. We made a wrong turn, whined and sung under the sweltering heat of the midday sun, and basically felt like tourists in our own tiny island. Again.

Food wise, it was average. I had the kimchi naanwich. It was flavored but I felt it was lacking punch. My friend had the beef tandoori naanwich which I liked more. It was more flavorful than the kimchi naanwich but it could have been more spicy. Perhaps they could introduce level of spiciness to cater to a broader range of taste buds. The drinks were delicious. I couldn't remember the exact names but we had a chocolate concoction of sorts there.

Recommended for the experience of casual dining by the poolside in Singapore, and those curious to what a naanwich is..

You can't miss the front of this cafe. It's as red as the telephone booths in London.

Minimal and rustic decor is tastefully done. Ambiance would be perfect if not for some construction going on upstairs. There were several wall ports so that you can charge your laptop and devices, and free wifi. The staff did not mind when we chillax for a while even after we finished our food and desserts, and we were very impressed by their service.

We went there for tea. Desserts ordered were an array of tarts including Nutella Chocolate and Salted Caramel. Both were heavenly. Chcolatey goodness with just the right amount of crunch at the crust. For their drinks, it was good but nothing outstanding. We didn't order mains as the meat were not from halal suppliers. There were no alcohol in the desserts.

What's there not to love about a cafe with yummy desserts (I'm a dessert person), tucked away in a quiet corner away from the bustle of the city?
