My new kind of "best of both worlds" and "surf and turf". This set for 2 pax is priced at $88 (a little steep) but definitely worth a try. The peking duck was surprisingly tasty and it was served with ikura (fish roe)! Do order the unexpectedly delicious white rice at @yaoyaosg as it is cooked with spring mineral water (农夫山泉矿泉水) and precisely measured amount of additional secret ingredients. . . *sneaky but good* Yes, you get to see them cooking the rice at the dining area~

Feeling full and accomplished at Hong Kong Day Cha Kee (@hkday.chakee). Set meal affordably priced at about $12+ you can get a large chicken chop macaroni soup (can also choose Nissin noodles or spaghetti), scrambled/fried egg with thick crispy toast and a drink of your choice. ☺️

Bolo bun with butter ($3) was crowned the most recommended item for the best reason. Fluffy and soft bun with crispy and flaky choux sandwiched with a thick slab of chilled butter! I can have this anytime any day. 🥰

We were pleasantly surprised with the rich and robust iced milk tea ($4). Yes, it is super sweet but in a good way so be prepared for the sugar rush. 😚

Get teleported to Hong Kong when you visit Red Star Restaurant. Enjoy the 1980s push cart dim sum dining experience, which is uncommon nowadays.

The food quality of the dim sum items was somewhat inconsistent. There were some hits and misses. However, the roasted duck ($16 for half) is unexpectedly delicious - crispy skin on the tender and moist meat that has almost no gamey taste. It was so good that we had to request a bowl of white rice. 😘

Ultimately, the fun was trying to catch the push cart auntie's attention or learn to "zap sang" (Cantonese term) - if she doesn't come to you, just go to her and get your dim sum! 🤣

Even if dim sum is not up your alley, Min Jiang at Goodwood Park Hotel (@goodwoodparkhotelsg) serves a good spread of exquisite Cantonese and Sichuan dishes. 😘

Satisfy your taste buds with the rich and flavourful Stewed Ee-fu Noodles with King Prawn in XO Sauce ($16). Beef lovers will definitely enjoy the tender Wok Fried Beef Cubes with Asparagus in Black Pepper Sauce ($36). Instead of the usual Peking Duck, try Min Jiang's Camphor Tea Smoked Duck Fillet ($32) for the soft and tea-scented aromatic meat. 😋

The newly renovated Min Jiang at Goodwood Park Hotel has reopened! Sophisticated interior, excellent and prompt service, and not forgetting the awesomely delicious food. 😋

Expect nothing less when dining at Min Jiang, they do not mess around with the quality of the dim sum items. Now available on push cart during lunch, even the basics like Har Gau ($6.20) and Siew Mai ($6.20) are easily one of the best dim sum we ever had. 👍🏻 Steamed Chinese Spinach with Chicken and Prawn Dumplings ($6.80) deserves a special mention - we love how all the flavours came together so beautifully. And just when we thought it will just be another Deep-fried Beancurd Skin Roll with Prawns ($6.80), we were so wrong. Min Jiang's rendition is probably the most crispy, least oily yet most juicy with succulent plump prawns. 🤤

Do make reservations to avoid disappointment! There are limited seatings due to safe distancing measures. Most importantly, even we were reluctant to leave after our meal. Just continue sipping tea and enjoy the relaxing ambience. 🤭 Chillax chillax~~

If you habitually enjoy dim sum on weekends like me, check out Sum Dim Sum where you can pre-order for delivery of dim sum! Alternatively, simply dabao (order takeaway) over the counter. 😉

Oh that flavourful broth, springy noodles and tender beef brisket which just falls apart easily. What's not to love?! 😋

With a crispy crust on the outside, the yuzu-shaped baked buns are fluffy inside and full of caramelized char siew (barbequed pork). The prominent sweet-citrusy notes of yuzu hit all the right spots. 😚

Three Eggs Chinese Spinach ($14) is my all-time favourite. 😉 Accompanied with egg white, salted egg and century egg, the Chinese spinach nestled in the creamy and flavourful homemade superior broth. It was so good that we even "yum seng" (bottoms up) the remaining broth.
