Korea
Located at the upscale Cheongdamdong area, experience at this Korean fine-dining restaurant was pretty good with impeccable service (without being obtrusive) and food was of quality, interesting variations to common Korean food. "Land" for our 4/5-course meal (50,000₩ / 80,000₩). This absolutely delish filet Mignon required a top up of 20,000₩ but we were so glad we did. It was tender, full of flavour and juicy even without too much fats.
This was actually really good. We bought the bulgoggi but it was wrongly tagged and we had spam instead. Beautiful mistake, the spam was so tasty with a bland tasting rice seasoned with sesame. But we really wanted our meat so we went back to tell them of the mistake AND they were so nice so we got free bulgoggi onigiri.
Headed to the first restaurant we saw in udo so it was jjamppong and jajangmyeon again. 12,000₩ if I'm not wrong? Not the best on this trip but look at the seafood! I realised I can never finish a bowl by myself boo. On a side note, if you get to udo island, peanut is their speciality so try the peanut ice cream (tasted ok only to me though).
JEJU and seafood. Came here for abalone porridge ended up getting this too. 40,000₩ for small portion but it seems pretty huge already and a great variety of seafood used. Absolutely fresh, after ordering he headed out to get them from the tank. And the stew was so tasty!!! Slightly spicy but bearable for me. Wish I knew what were the seafood that I had I'm bad with shells especially. Abalone, clam, scallop, mussels, crab etc.
Friends and I thoroughly enjoyed this! Also milk flakes instead of ice, soft as snow. With soy bean powder, chunky azuki beans, perfect summer dessert!
Friend loved this cos there was a lot of mango chunks in it. Not a dessert person so I got to eat all the cheesecake which was not bad.
For all things tea-related. Had to resist the temptation to buy all the prettily packaged tea!! There's an outlet in Seoul but we were here for the little green tea plantations. It's really crowded in this green tea museum but it's worth a visit imo! Loved the green tea roll for 5,000₩ which was fluffy, with vanilla cream(?) but another friend didn't like the creaminess. The cream was really fragrant though! Also tried their green tea o fredo (green tea + ice cream, 7,000₩) and a parfait-like king o fredo (with additional green tea cake, azuki beans and cream, 8,500₩). The osulloc milk tea was really good too, not sweet at all.
One of Jeju's specialty is apparently the black pork. Headed to this BBQ shop where there were many locals (must mean it's good haha). Ordered a mix set for 4 at 89,000₩ 💸💸💸, their service staff cooked the meat for us and it was superb - tender and flavourful other than the smokey goodness. Added the sauce which I had no idea what it was just that it tasted like seaweed - with spring onion salad wrapped in lettuce and the pork. Damn shiok! AND we didn't smell like BBQ after leaving the place.
I've never liked jajangmyeon but this was good!!!And the jjamppong 😍 opted for the mild spicy which was just right - really tasty, and a lot of seafood in it!
Nothing impressive but it's quite yummy to me. Possibly one of the cheapest options in Nami Island. So it's just kimchi rice, cheese and egg in the traditional metal tin. Gloves are provided so you have to put them on to shake the tin real hard and mix the rice! Fun but my friend was so hungry she got annoyed with it cos the tin was extremely hot even with gloves.
Cold night, nth hot sweet potato latte, I can live on it everyday 💁🏻 ok but not the best I've had so far!
Last dinner in Seoul, ordered delivery again! Different from sg's, much yummier. Our host ordered BBQ Chicken for us and we were like ...... But it turned out to be really good!!!! No idea what's with Korean chickens and mustard sauce but not bad. If it tasted this good in sg they would have survived lor. Damn crispy crunchy and the batter was fragrant and light.
