Brunch Dates
1. Fries with a Side of Guilt ($14)
2. Salsiccia and Morning After 2-in -1 pizza.
The Fies with a Side of Guilt is basically a generous bowl of chunky hand cut fries tipped with cheddar sauce, shaved paresan, jalapeño, and bbq sauce. Overall it was a tasty dish but we felt that it could have been better with some minced meat or more special topping. As it is, it seems to us that the Fries with a Side of Guilt is an atas cheese fries, which is not exactly worth spending $14 on. It'd be much more worth it to get another pizza.
The pizza here was definitely one of the favourite pizzas ever. The Salsiccia side of the pizza came with pork chorizo, mangalica sausages, mushroom, onion, and garlic with a tomato base and topped with mozzarella. With its abundant toppings of meat, this pizza is a must try for meat lovers. We also loved the mushrooms interspersed between the meat which gave the pizza a variation of texture.
The Morning After side of the pizza was served with mozzarella, bacon, mushroom, and a soft egg in the center. People often say simplicity is the best, and this pizza is definitely proof of that. The toppings came together in perfect harmony and truly wowed us. If there was any food I'd like after the morning after a crazy night, I have no doubt that it'll be this gem of a pizza. In additional, the simplicity of the Morning After also served as a good contrast with the Salsiccia, and made the whole meal even more enjoyable!
Definitely must try!!!!
1. Akamaru Shi-Aji with egg
2. Karaka-men with egg
The ramen at ippudo never fails to impress. For us, the soul of the ramen is in the broth, and ippudo' s broth is rich, fragrant, and packed with flavour. Not only that, the noodles are also delicious, and you get to choose the hardness of your noodles, so both soft and hard noodle lovers can be satisfied. For us, the 'hard' option struck the perfect balance between firmness and chewiness.
Today, we also felt adventurous and skipped the classic Shiromaru ramen. Instead, we had the karaka-men (top) and akamaru shin-aji ramen (bottom).
The karaka-men came with a spicy miso broth which was really yummy and had a great kick! The egg was also perfectly done, with a semi - liquid yolk that accentuated the flavours of the broth. Definitely a good choice!
The akamaru-shin ramen was also fantastic. Despite the dollop of red stuff (actually blended miso paste and garlic oil) that came with it, it was not spicy at all! However, it was still extremely flavourful and enjoyable (:
1. 18pc mixed chicken drumlets and wings combo ($19.99 with dbs/posb card promotion; UP $21.99)
2. Seafood rice box combo ($8.99)
We all know that it's a burpple faux pas to post fast food. But this is an exception. IT IS THAT GOOD. Four Fingers needs no introduction. However, we feel that it is one of THE best comfort (and sinful) food. Honestly, whenever we're having a bad day or need a pick me up, having many pieces of fried chicken always helps.
Apart from the fried chicken, the seafood rice box is also great. We feel that this dish deserves more love. It comes with fried calamari and shrimps which were both fresh and nicely dried. It also comes with rice topped with tasty soy sauce, which was a great carb to go with the chicken too!
Also, there's a dbs/posb promotion so you an get $2 off certain combos if you use a dbs/posb credit or debit card!
1. Wagyu Beefcheek Pie ($11.90)
2. The Sunriser ($11.90)
Pies and Coffee is a cafe with outlets at rochester park, paya lebar, and a few other areas. We went to the one at rochester park and found that atmosphere to be really tranquil and peaceful. It has a small indoor air conditioned seating, as well as a large al fresco dining area with many comfy sofas, definitely a great place to just kick back and enjoy a relaxing brunch.
The Wagyu Beefcheek Pie was so-so. The pie crust itself was great, however, the inside of the pie was a tad dry. There was a generous amount of beef, but our only gripe was that the beef was quite fatty, which we didn't enjoy that much. Even thougu $11.90 for a pie might aounds pricey, the pie also came with salad and mashed potato, both of which were good, and made it a very filling meal.
The Sunriser was a gem - truffle mash with chicken sausage stuffed into a pastry cup, and topped with a perfect sunny side up with oozy yolk. The Sunriser truly lived up to its name, not only was the presentation beautiful, it also tasted delicious and made for the perfect meal to start the day with. Sadly, there were only two of them and we finished them in the blink of an eye. Would definitely come back for more.
Overall, while the Wagyu Beefcheek Pie was a slight disappointment, the Sunriser was a huge hit. The next time we come, we would probably try a different pie - they have many interesting types such as Guinness Beef Pie! Oh and do check out groupon for discount vouchers, they have some offers now and then!
3 Course Set Lunch (Mains) ($58++ for steaks, $38++ for Seafood & Poultry)
Wagyu Minute Steak (on the right)
Woodfire-grilled Striploin (on the left)
Bedrock Bar & Grill offers a 3-course set lunch, which comes with a starter, a main, and a dessert. While $58++ for a 3 course lunch with steak may sound pricey, it is still much more affordable than their ala-carte dinner menu, where steaks start from $79++, with the most expensive ones well over $100.
We had the Wagyu Minute Steak ordered medium rare and the Woodier-grilled Striploin ordered Medium.
The Wagyu Minute Steak was a disappointment overall. The meat was rather dry and overcooked, despite us asking for the steak to be done medium rare. The only saving grace of the dish was that the middle portion of the steak retained some juiciness and tasted great. If only the whole steak tasted like that, what a pity. The side potatoes were really good though.
In contrast to the Wagyu Minute Steak, the Woodier-grilled Striploin exceeded our expectations, and turned out to be the unexpected star of the show. There was a generous portion of meat, and the whole steak was juicy and bursting with flavour. The béarnaise sauce that came with the steak was also a good complement, although the steak by itself is sufficiently delicious. would definitely recommend this to steaklovers!
The desserts (not pictured) were also fantastic. We didn’t think that a steakhouse would serve such great desserts but we were proven wrong. We had the Sticky Stout & Toffee Pudding with Gingernut Ice Cream which was heavenly. However it had a strong ginger taste, so if you’re not a fan of ginger this definitely wouldn’t be for you! We also had the Raspberry & White Chocolate Eclair with Fresh Berries which was superb (high recommended!!). It was a huge eclair that wasn’t overly sweet and had the freshest berries and white chocolate and ahhhh amazing (:

3 Course Set Lunch (Starters) ($58++ for steaks, $38++ for Seafood & Poultry)
1. Classic Lobster Bisque
2. House Cured Salmon
For our starters, we chose the Classic Lobster Bisque and House Cured Salmon.
The Lobster Bisque had an overpowering lobster taste. It would be much better if they toned down the flavour a little bit. Other than that, the consistency of the Lobster Bisque was good, and the presentation was flawless.
The House Cured Salmon was REALLY good. The Salmon was exceedingly fresh, with a tinge of lemon which added the perfect amount of zest to the dish. The portion of salmon given was also very generous. Needless to say, I gobbled it up in the span of a few minutes and would have liked more :P
1. Truffle Yakiniku Don ($14.90)
So with all the hype about tanuki raw, we decided to try out their famed truffle yakiniku don.
It cost $18 on the menu but the lunch special serves this up for just $14.90! There was a generous portion of beef which was tender and juicy, topped with a mouth watering onsen egg above truffle infused brown rice! Such good and affordable food in town is honestly so hard to find. However, we found that it was a tad too salty, it seemed like they accidentally spilled too much soy sauce! Additionally the dish came out cold (room temperature to lukewarm) and we would have also preferred it to be served hot. However we asked the manager if it was supposed to be served at this room temperature (to clarify if our food had just been accidentally served cold) and he confirmed that it was intentional. It beats us why they choose to do so, but to each their own. Overall, still a value for money meal in town and it will definitely satisfy your beef and truffle craving!
Truffle Benedict ($18)
Chilli Beef Fries ($12)
Bitter Lemon ($5.50)
Karma Cola ($6.50)
The Truffle Benedict was amazing! There was a generous amount of the hollandiase sauce which had the right tinge of truffle. The eggs were perfectly poached, there were generous slices of ham, and the toast was warm and fluffy.
The Chilli Beef Fries was huge and had the most addictive cheesy and meaty and all around amazing sauce ever! The portion of the sauce was extremely generous (so we didn't have the annoying problem of reaching the last fry and not having the sauce left, you feel me?)
The drinks were nice but overpriced in our opinion so it might be better to skip the drinks!
The prices here at NETT so it comes down to pretty reasonable! The staff were really friendly, we had a bar seat and they even offered us two samples of their tea! :) Can't wait to return again soon!
