Well... I was debating between this and the Cheese Ramen.
This was cheaper, at $6.80 and the Cheese one at $7.50 (I think?) And there was this option to add cheese in my ramen so I added one cheese into HOT spicy ramen.
When the ramen came I was severely disappointed, Mine had no meat no eggs and only 1 onion and 1 slice of Cheese (that costs $0.50!)
After I mixed in the cheese and tried the soup... the cheese just disappeared and it was really really really spicy. It was HOT as well. HOT + spicy = shizzles. (Mind you, it was just a level 2 spicy)
I couldn't finish it without diluting it with 1/2 cup of water. And while eating, I downed 1 bottle of water + 5 cups of complimentary tea. (I love them for the complimentary tea)
Overall, I think it was really too spicy that my ears hurt. And this is coming from me who takes spicy well.
Just finished my workout and I don't usually have much of an appetite right after exercising, but the thought of those soft, chewy rice cakes simmering with Korean fishcake, prawns, mussels, scallops and glass noodles in a thick red pepper paste stew is enough to get me salivating.
The chicken here is well-cooked, but needed far more seasoning and marinating to push it beyond its current lacklustre state of mediocrity.
Star dish of BigMama! Almost all tables order this. When u almost finishing, u can ask them to fry rice in it at $3 per portion. This is my 2nd time here and really enjoy the authentic flavor here. Definitely is one of my fav Korean restaurant.
Big Mama needs no further introduction, as many have already come to know about this Tiong Bahru gem which serves up hearty Korean fare. Due to its small shop space, reservations are a must! The signature dish here is definitely the chicken dakgalbi at $15/pax - minimum of 2 servings. Chicken thigh pieces mixed with their Korean chilli paste, cabbages, toppoki & kimchi - cooked in the pan right before you. The seasonings were just right, coupled with the tender chicken. Do not forget to try their Kimchi Pancake too, it was crispy on the outside but still retains the juiciness of the kimchi in the pancake! Can't wait for my next visit already haha
Japchae has a sweet twist, the pancake though is nothing much. It was thick and not crispy enough.
