Not as nice as expected however it is quite presentable
And since the hubs queued for 45mins, I decided to see if I could conquer the $10 bowl and...haha #sorrynotsorry I finished it šš
Best prawn mee I've ever had but comes with a price.
The soup is what makes it that much more special. It has all that flavour of prawn mee broth but without overusing pepper. It owes it sweetness to the use of only the freshest prawns and hae bee hiam chilli.
Prices are $3, 5, 10, 20 or anything in between depending on how big the prawns are that day. (Pictured is the $10 portion.) Be prepared to queue and wait for your noodles. Also note that the stall is closed on Mondays.
Pick up a piece; it's texture holds together like a cake. Soft white radish combines with a well fried, firm, eggy coat, with its hint of smokey fragrance. The moist thickness mixes with crunchy chye poh (salted radish) that lifts the eggy fragrance in a flavourful chew. Each ingredient is careful to not overpower but add dimension to the contrasting texture for that full-bodied finish.
.
White radish, handmade and steamed, fries before chye poh is tossed with garlic for that umami. Combined and infused with fish sauce, eggs pour in and set to brown. He Zhong Carrot Cake serves only white carrot cake ($2/$3/$5) but they draw a regular queue for their a savoury snack; smear on sambal chilli with a hint of fish sauce and shrimp. Not too greasy, it's light on the guilt too.

Pull up the beehoon and soft strands of white emerges from peanut gravy, picking up the creamy thick consistency well. So smooth on your tongue, it's gentle on satay spice and the fragrance of nuts with virtually no oil. More savoury than sweet, light on the heat, it carries notes of curry, giving you deep umami without being cloying. Take it in with the soft chew of cured cuttlefish, a slice of lean pork or their succulent prawns and cockles, fresh and cooked pink. Pair your mouthful with crunchy beansprouts and Kang Kong or tau pok that top it off.
.
You know Sin Chew Satay Bee Hoon #02-162 ($6 large) is a must when it opens only four days a week and closes once ingredients are up. You'll spot the queue before you find it!

It's really rare to see stalls selling Penang Laksa. It's a make it or break it kinda business. You can't fool people with that unique fish broth.
To my surprise, this stall (#02-128) serves really nice Penang Laksa, it's like the ones I ate previously in my trip to Penang! Sedap! Besides the chunky servings of sardines, it had fresh veggies like cucumber and pineapple cubes that made it really taste refreshing.

Other than Geylang, this is another go to place for homemade noodles. I will always have to have this plate of happiness, just before teaching my weekly classes at Beauty World. The old world charm, never changed at all, for the longest time. The signage and and the old table and stools remains, are simply run down and endearing. Seeing people hanging around talking to each other, gives that homely sense of community. Everyone is so friendly to each other. I enjoy just sitting around listening in, and get trapped into their charming hawker centre, people watch and run through what I would be teaching for the day. While their soup is superb, you should go for the dry version. The black sauce and chilli combo is simply so amazing, and that chilli kick is the bomb. Do not underestimate the small amount of chilli they have put there, the spice will be you smile while it burns your lips slightly (I am big on spicy). And if you find the sauce too much, you can always wash it down with the soup they provide. The minced meat were well marinated, and the noodles have good texture and thickness to give you that bite. And for a small price at $3.50, you've got to love hawker food. #Hawkerpedia
For $24, this was definitely worth it & the asam jawa drink is terantokkkkk hehe! Definitely not the last time hereāŗļø For those looking for Malay dishes, this is the place to go.
Sinful and delicious. This incredibly unhealthy food should be only ate like only every once in a while despite the fact that this is extremely tasty and yummy!
Order the dry ban mian with chilli. Mix it up and you get a mean bowl of home made noodles. The chilli is spicy enough to give a kick and the mix of black sauce and oil makes it savoury and delicious.
