As the name implies, this cake parlour only deals with cakes, apart from coffee and tea. While most of their cakes are derived from safer flavours, the chef here takes a different approach by adding some ingredients for a unique touch, as well as making some cakes flourless or gluten-free. Every cake is generally good, but their variation of Carrot Cake with zucchini is something really worth trying.

"Flor", pronounced in Japanese as "fu-ro-ru", means "flower". Every cake is almost like an art piece, full of color and vibrant but balanced flavor- perfect for a special occasion. If you're looking for a bite of heaven on-the-go, grab their ice cheese tartlets in any flavor you please, cos they're so.damn.good.

Located within The Little Drom Store, Kki can be easily missed if you're heading there for the first time. With only a few seats available, just a handful will be able to dine in the charmingly quirky interior. Savor these gorgeous creations slowly, and take notice of how carefully and beautifully crafted they are, even on the inside! We love the ever-classy Antoinette, bursting with creamy white chocolate mousse paired with mango.

Their 12" pizzas go for $14-17, pastas for $13-15, and house wine for just $8 a glass! Go for the Parma & Rucola Pizza ($16.90), and choose your own pasta and sauce combination.

This humble Thai stall in Tiong Bahru market is probably the most value-for-money, with huge portions at only $4 a plate. Owned and run by two friendly Thais, you'll be guaranteed authentic, hearty food. The Pad Thai is full of flavour and generous with the ingredients. Go for your favourites, they have a wide variety to choose from!

At just $8.80, this lunch set of 4 Xiao Long Baos, 1 bowl of noodles and a drink will leave you satisfied. The noodles come in a generous portion with 5 versions to choose from -- Noodles A and E are recommended. For supper, the steamboat buffet with unlimited XLB is crazy good value! From 10.15pm - 12.30pm, it's only $16.80 for adults.

For good dim sum sold at coffeeshop prices, many come here for their super-flowy liu sha bao, but items such as the siew mai or har kow may not be up to restaurant standards. Also try their steamed beancurd roll and steamed carrot cake. Bear in mind it's located in an eating house, so don't expect comforts!

At La Petite, you get to enjoy French favourites at not-so-crazy prices. This humble, cosy bistro is located in the outer corridor of Serene Centre. Order (at the counter) the escargots on toasted croissant ($14) to share, and the Confit du Canard (duck leg) for your main at $16.50. The duck is cooked to perfection, crispy skin with tender flesh, and an addictive potato gratin on the side.

If you're looking for a simple, healthy, satisfying meal, these soups are the perfect choice. This stall in Bukit Timah Market sells 6 different kinds of soup everyday. At $3 - $4, these soups do not contain any MSG and are light and tasty. Besides the soups, also try the Steamed Pork Ribs with Black Beans ($3.50).

Start with the Pandan Chicken -- tender, fragrant and generous in portion size! The clear tom yam soup is not killer spicy, but terrifically tasty. Order your usual favourites, Joe's does almost anything really well! If you're a fan of Thai Fried Vermicelli, they do a great version. Cool down with their Thai iced tea and the mango sticky rice.
