Hawker Fare
Can’t believe I didn’t try this earlier! Adding this to my list of favorites in Malaysia Boleh. The noodles are really springy and they’re really generous with the ingredients and sauce. Really good value at just $4.
We queued about an hour for this during lunch time on a Sunday, which is actually quite fast considering how long and snaking the queue really was. The flavors are very well balanced with the perfect ratio of garlic, vinegar and chili. They are also very generous with the fish for sure!
The bowl pictured comes with the noodles pre seasoned with a dark sauce, but you definitely still gotta add a scoop of their chili to give it some additional flavors and good kick! Also add an extra egg because who doesn’t love a runny egg over noodles?
Each bowl comes with a standard 5 pieces, and all were really good except perhaps for the fishball which was quite ordinary. Wish the portion was bigger tho...or maybe an option to upsize would be good. The noodles that came with the set looks average but was surprisingly springy and yummy when mixed with the sweet sauce and chili sauce. $5.
Good but I feel that it’s a tad pricey, at $2.5 a piece. Would be nicer if they added some prawns too.
Ipoh horfun in Ipoh, it’s gotta be the best here - soft, smooth and silky. The broth in this bowl is lighter than the broth in the prawn mee, but not any less flavorful. A must try for sure.
Nam Heong is a must visit in Ipoh and has really good Malaysian hawker food. This bowl of prawn mee is better than any prawn mee I’ve had in Singapore. The broth packs a punch of prawn-y flavors, but it doesn’t get too heavy at all as the crunchy bean sprouts and the veggies keeps it refreshing.
Pictured is the portion for 4 persons, $28. My favorite part of kway chap is usually the intestines and the ones served here is so fatty so yummy and certainly not for the faint hearted.
I had to queue > 20 minutes despite arriving at 11.25am, that's how crazy the queue is. Well I guess it's also because everyone was craving a bowl of hot comforting soup on a rainy day! Best to know what you want to order the moment you join the queue as the aunty is quite impatient. And since you are queueing so long so pls do spend the two extra worthy dollars for the larger $7 portion! I've had fish soups with tastier broths but seriously this stall wins hands down in terms of the quantity and quality of the fish slices. Super shiok 👍🏼
This chicken leg and bacon pasta was so delicious and only $7. The entire dish was well seasoned and very tasty, with lots of chicken, bacon and mushroom and a perfect onsen egg to top it off. Would definitely return again to brave the queue and try the other items on the menu.
The portion is a little small so do order the large one after queuing so long! Each bowl has standard ingredients you don't get to choose the items you want but it's ok cos each piece of the handmade ytf is so yummy. Everything is made with good real ingredients and I didn't get thirsty despite drinking all the soup too - no msg added!
