Was not really a fan of matcha/green tea lattes but the one at Franco is delicious! Of course it's sweet and a dessert in a drink, but I love how their matcha is fragrant and delicious really! Would love to try their pure latte (without the Softee/match ice cream) or hot matcha. Perfect for a hot day and to satisfy some sweet tooth cravings. You can opt for just iced matcha latte if you do not want the Matcha soft serve or softee as they call it.
Even my mother who's not a fan of green tea loved this. And the green tea was not camouflaged by the sweet milk. The green tea softserve was delicious as well! I remember having it on its own in a cute tea cup. They're delicious! Franco is why I fell in love with matcha soft serves. Their main competitor is the soft serve from Nana's green tea. đ Drink: 8/10 Price: 7/10 (RM 13.96 -Including GST. Prices at Franco are always very expensive and worth going once in a while or if you're feeling peckish for desserts and a place for group dessert hunting trips đ)
It was a protein packed baked rice bowl. Basically a few pieces of chicken teriyaki, and a large omelette, blanketing a bed of teriyaki rice. Everything under the chicken and egg was RICE! So much rice. đ
I couldn't finish the rice but it was indeed a simple yet satisfying comfort food. The teriyaki rice was rather sweet. Reminds me of the Chinese dumpling.
The whole combination is really tasty for someone who loves eggs and chicken. But very expensive for such a simple dish!
Food: 8/10 Price: 6/10 (RM 24.43 - GST included. I'll give them credits to the generosity in portion, taste, and service. But really? Teriyaki chicken and egg on top of rice worth 25 ringgit? I'll come back next time.) PS I still prefer Riz Au Curry for more taste and toppings!
Oh well. I can always something else and the soufflĂŠ some other time.
The "orijinaru" aka original pancake is a simple thick fluffy pancake served with a small dollop of whipped cream and maple syrup. The vanilla ice cream is a chargeable add on. All on your choice.
The soufflĂŠ pancake didn't taste as good as the ones that was more gourmet like matcha & azuki toppings or the berry toppings. Because I get to try purely the pancake, it tasted more floury. I thought it was uncooked but I guess that's what you get for having such a thick pancake.
So little cream on top! That's weird because they were really generous with it to be able to fool us to be ice cream on the French toast. But anyway, the pancake wasn't my favourite on its own. Luckily I decided to add on the vanilla soft serve aka softee which made the whole dessert better.
Wait was 15 minutes as I called it to be served after my main dishes.
I suggest asking them to serve the desserts when you're about to finish the mains so that you don't have to wait. Or serve it together with the main. But if you don't mind, let the food digest a little to enjoy your desserts ay? âşď¸ Food: 6/10 Price: 6/10 (RM 13.02+RM 2.64 ;GST included)
Finally I get to eat this again after ages of wanting to but never got to it. Missing the Sweden flag because the IKEA food court was very pack. Could have missed a little detail on my order.
Still as good as I remember since I was a child. But I think the brown sauce was tastier before. A MUST TRY IF YOURE IN IKEA! Enough said.
Have it with the mash potatoes and jam.
I hope I made you hungry.
Food: 9/10 Price: 7/10 (RM 15.90 for 15 meatballs with potatoes, jam, and sauce)
P/S. I quite like the canteen style in the food court. đ
Croissant was amazingly fluffy and flaky. Very generous too! But for those who do not like salmon, I suggest taking the red Benedict.
The person who came with me didn't like this because he mistakenly chose this and he doesn't eat salmon. Read the food description well!
For me, the eggs benedict basically tasted normal. Edible but nothing special. Except it's served with a croissant instead of English muffins over here in Metal Box!
Brief review because there wasn't anything super special or delicious with this. Good croissants!
Food: 5/10 Price: 6/10 (RM 18.90 - it's rather expensive for just two eggs, croissant and some other condiments. But still same price as other usual eggs benny)
Great for your morning coffee cravings. Not amazing if you're a coffee aficionado.
My profiling for this with my tastebuds are fruity, a bit acidic and a little nutty. Not sure what beans they were using. But again, I got a latte in 12oz cup instead of a cappuccino. đŞ Coffee: 6/10 Price: 6/10 (RM 10 or 11 - can't remember the price clearly. But the range is about there. Normal for a cappuccino in most cafes.) P/s. Overall, my experience here is not so pleasant and way below my expectations. I do agree pictures do flavour no justice. People can take beautiful pictures of food but in reality it tastes horrible. I hope I don't mislead you! Do read my reviews (or the rating for a quick judgement!) P/p/s. CUTE CUP COLOUR!
It seems their chef opened a new restaurant with his new concept and some of RBB's recipe with his personal touch.
But anyway, this was not as good as I expected. It's not as good as Red Beanbag's version. I thought it would be better or at least up to my expectations since it's the same chef. Oh bummer. To be honest it was quite bland overall and the filling was quite little. There were lesser varieties of sausages too. The herbs were quite overpowering.
On a brighter note, the sourdough wasn't too bad and it adds some credits to the baked eggs. It's tastier when you eat them together!
Red Beanbag still has my vote for baked eggs!
My visit to metal box wasn't as nice as I thought it would be. Service was quite bad too. My waiter was so blur and he seemed a little high too. He could be dreaming and he didn't listen well to orders.
I would still try to come back for their French toast. Hopefully I'll be back with a better experience!
Food: 6/10 Price: 6/10 (RM 18.90 - it is slightly cheaper than Red Beanbag but considering the meat and fillings in metal box's baked eggs, it's very expensive.)
