Signature Bak Chor Dry Mee Sua - extra chilli + extra black vinegar... yumms. I love it with lots of chopped spring onion ❤️
Hand-cut Sweet Potato fries that comes with a salted duck egg dip. The Salted Egg sauce came thick, full of flavour. Expect a nice balance of sweet and savoury here, where the natural sweetness of sweet potato blending in with that sinful salted goodness.
Chef Shen Tan takes over the brunch menu at Artistry for this weekend's pop-up, whipping up dishes she is known for such as the Bak Chor Mee Pasta and Nasi Lemak. Linguine tossed in vinegar and chili flakes, the tart flavours of vinegar comes off strongly on the al-dente noodles. Pork Confit was tender with hints of 5 spices used to marinate the pork.
Mac & Cheese isn't what you really hear of with waffles everyday; that is why we decided to try it out. Waffles were crisp and buttery, but seemingly airy inside though probably because of the layer of Mac & Cheese in between that can potentially make it overwhelming. Truffle scent was evident, and the whole waffle has no lack of cheesiness with full bits of macaroni in it, but it gets better with the tomato dip and the side which adds a tangy flavour that makes it pretty unique to its own.
Sufficiently moist, and well-filled with walnut bits for a bite. Each bite comes laden with the scent of cinnamon as it seems to be quite heavy on it, and the luscious and smooth cream cheese was lightly sweetened; pretty delightful!
Apples were a bit on the sour side but retained a bit of crunchiness and sprinkled with cinnamon powder atop. Tart base was a pastry base that seemed a tad stiff as a fork just could not cut it apart.
Have an inkling that these are supplied from Kreme Couture although I can't be sure (they sure look similar!). Thought the Earl Grey flavour was strong, and went well with the zingy glaze, but the cake was just a teeny bit too moist for me.
Apart from plated desserts, Flock at Ghim Moh also serves cakes available at their original outlet. Banana Toffee was filled with natural banana sweetness and a dash of toffee goodness. The accompanied cream does help to neutralize flavours if the sweetness starts to become too overwhelming. Also one of the most moist Banana cakes I ever had.
Came a bit too early for The Lab, so we decided to chill at The Hangar instead where we discovered this Brownie. While the Brownie lacks a crusty exterior, it's smoothness and richness is as though you are literally eating a slab of thick chocolate ganache.
Two times to Carpenter and Cook and I had never understood why they are so raved about. Third time and my friend ordered the Passionfruit Meringue Tart and now I understand why; its meringue had a short hint of eggy sweetness which makes it so soothing and comforting to have with the tart Passionfruit curd. It's great combination of sweet-sour flavours makes it a very appealing dessert than won the crowd at the table even after when we all are just too full for dessert
These Sea Salt Brownies come with a choice of ice-cream, which we decided to opt out for we wanted to try its original flavour. There is ample amount of salt to make it just right, and while the brownies are crusty they had little pockets that small amounts of chocolate ganache can leak out from. Admittedly adding the ice-cream would have mediated the sea salt flavour for those who are not really into that small bit of intense saltiness in its exterior.
Toothsome Cafe does not only sell cakes for desserts, but they also have some Chinese-inspired light bites such as this one. This was essentially like your charsiew pastry, light flaky pastry skin with sweet honey marinated chicken chunks in the inside that even replicates actual charsiew in texture. So good I wouldn't mind having one more!
