Pros: Nice café to sit and catch up on some work or have a chit chat, good coffee.
Cons: No wifi! Food/ snack options are average.
It was my first time at this Plain Vanilla outlet. Nestled at the end of the popular Yong Siak Street in the old Tiong Bahru estate, it's come a long way since my first experience with their mind blowing red velvet cupcake from their tiny outlet on level 2 of Holland Village. What I like about the cupcakes here is that there's nothing too fancy about it, just good old flavours neatly packed in a light cake base and a perfectly swirled icing top. Perfect paired with a flat white, for a lazy afternoon pick me up before wandering in Books Actually or Strangelets next door. Only outdoor communal seating, but hey it wouldn't be hipster otherwise now would it.
It's really called Happy cake! Made me happy to discover that while this may look like an ordinary chocolate cake, there are actually crispy chocoballs embedded in the cake to create a surprisingly crunchy yet moist texture that I loved.
Tasteless and dry :(
