The new collection at Chateraise, Nama Chocolate & Truffle Bar $25 is beyond our expectation. It's sponge cake is moist and soft and the different layering (nama chocolate, chocolate sauce, chocolate cream, white chocolate with cereal, white chocolate cream and cocoa sponge) adds texture to the cake. Indeed a children's favourite even to the picky ones.
New stall at Coralinus. Ordered the Yuan Yang Meatball Noodles , Yuan Yang and Minced pork noodles ($4.00-$4.50) but the chilli is addictive and before we knew it, we forgot to take picture of our food. The meatball, fish dumplings are all hand-made. Glad that we found another good venue for comfort food.
The Strawberry Millefeuille, $7, contains crispy outer layers with a flavourful custard sandwiched between it. It is light and airy with a light drizzle of maple syrup on the crisps. The custard flavourful and creamy enough to perfection.
Craving for a sweet tooth in the lazy afternoon, we headed for Cafe de Muse. Ordered the Coco Waffle $15.90.
The waffles were thin and a little hard, nothing extraordinary. Personally disliked the way they flooded the waffles with chocolate and whipped cream thus making it a little soggy. Although it satisfied my sweet cravings, would not recommend if sweet and sugary desserts are not up your alley.
The service on the other hand was disappointing as well. We were showed to a cold seat, under the aircon. When asked to change seats, the waitresses gave us a stare and were extremely unpleasant. Also, we received unclean cutleries with visible food crusts on the knife (ps: which were only cleaned with a cloth before they placed it back).
One word ..Disappointed.
Cold pan cake, has a jer-lat after taste.
The pancakes are relatively dry, seems pre-cooked and left in the cold..picture looks good but unfortunately taste lousy.
$15.90. Not recommended though.
p/s : I never complain about food but this pan cake is a disappointment.
Seafood Hor Fun that has the wok hey taste and aroma, simply heavenly. Home-made Toufu with minced pork that goes superbly with rice. Not forgetting the must order paper wrap chicken. Highly recommended!
After a good run, headed to Miami Bistro for their juicy, tender Stirloin Steak, $19.90. Fish & Chips, $12.90, was like any other but a good choice for kids or families to share given the big serving. Grilled Chicken Bento $12.90 topped with egg mayonnaise, tomatoes, corn and mashed potatoes, was a good change. Canned drinks were rather costly at $2.20 per can which can be given a miss. Food at 20% discount though. Interesting find at Tebing Lane.
The texture of the pancakes are very thick and fluffy sandwiched between layers of cream and topped of with (in this case I ordered berries) a variety of berries, a tiny scoop of vanilla ice cream and more fresh cream 1 set of 2 piece pancakes are $11.90 inclusive of a drink of your choice
Newly opened western fusion stall at Blk 293 Yishun Street 22 #01-207 Singapore 760293. Wanted to order their Salted Egg Chicken Chop but it was already sold out at 7.45pm. Tried their Laksa Spaghetti ($5.50) and it was nice. Their laksa was thick and packed with the goodness of dried shrimp, the spaghetti was al dente with generous serving of succulent prawns. Value for money!
We first tried Poulet in 2012. Since then we would not forget to order their Signature Roast Chicken, Mushroom Soup, Truffle Fries and Tiramisu for each visit. Still thumbs up for the Half Roast Chicken with Mushroom Chardonnay Sauce $16.90! However, a bit of a disappointment today as the Tiramisu $9.90 is on the damp side. Espresso soaked fingers melted and vanished into the mascarpone cheese. The Pan-fried Salmon $18.90 is over-cooked and tasted a bit tough although the tangy sauce is pretty interesting. The Yuzhu Spritzer $5.90 added a great punch though.
Unlike Singapore's usual typical prawn noodle, this (limited time) new Dry Prawn Mee $7.90 is quite different and tasty. The soup which added dried shrimp also enhance the flavour of the prawn noodle. Interesting item though.
Craving for HK's Cha Chaan Teng on a Thursday Brunch, we headed for Tsui Wah. Loved the Crispy Bun with Condensed Milk ($4), with the right ratio of butter and lashings of condensed milk. P/S : Consume while it's hot. Also enjoyed the deep fried wanton served with sweet & sour sauce ($9.50), which is a good match. The king prawns in XO sauce with tossed noodles ($11) was a tad too bland if not fully immersed in the XO sauce. The French toast bites with vanilla ice-cream ($9.50) satisfied our sweet tooth for the day.
