Bestest fried chicken I've had yet! We shared the 6 piece drumsticks set that comes with two small fries and two drinks. The drumsticks were coated in a very crispy and well seasoned batter and were still juicy on the inside! They stayed crispy for a very long time too (as I eat really slowly hahaha). For fries, we had the seaweed flavour and kimchi flavour. They were crisp and had a strong taste of potato, which I liked, but the kimchi ones were just sour and did not really taste of kimchi.

Situated at the basement of Concorde Hotel, this Korean stall is very popular at lunch and dinner times. The spicy chicken soup set comes highly recommended at $6.50, along with their potato pancake at $3.50. If you're in town and craving some authentic Korean food, look no further than the distinct blue signboard with a line of people queuing for some good food.

Although not a restaurant dedicated to ramen, Tampopo has made a name for itself with their Black Pig Shabu Ramen, a must-order here along with their Crispy Salmon Skin as a side. You will get to enjoy the best of both worlds - flavourful ramen and mouth-watering tonkatsu. Did you know the owner of Tompopo was one of the early pioneers to introduce Singapore to the delectable Tonkatsu (deep fried pork cutlet)? If you still have space after your ramen, try the Scoop Cake for a truly satisfying dessert.

After making huge waves in Thailand, this ramen restaurant originally from Japan has come to Singapore, and now has outlets conveniently located in 313 Somerset, and Tampines 1. We like that they recognise varying stomach capacities, offering ramen in two portion sizes, with 'upsizes' available at additional cost. Not surprisingly, their tonkotsu broth is made from hours of simmering pork bones to achieve its rich flavour. $11.90 for a large portion of their signature Tonkotsu Ramen makes it affordable and filling. If you have the space, their gyoza is worth ordering too!

The snaking queue at this famous dakgalbi restaurant from Korea is testament to its popularity. For the uninitiated, Galbi is basically meat marinated in a ganjang-based sauce that is grilled at the table. The star here is none other than Yoogane's Chicken Galbi - spicy marinated chicken cooked with rice cakes and vegetables. Also go for the Galbi Fried Rice, that gooey mozzarella cheese fried with rice and bulgogi chicken is oh-so-satisfying. Kimchi-lovers rejoice, the salad bar is free-flow!

The BBQ buffet here might well be the most affordable buffet around. At only $14.90++ for lunch on weekdays and $24.90++ for dinner, K.COOK makes a great place for dining in groups and eating till you drop without burning a hole in your pocket. The meats are well-marinated and come in a good variety. With great value and a good selection, they're really bringing in the crowds - so be prepared to queue!

Having gained popularity, it is no surprise that it will take you almost 30 minutes to get to the front of the queue during peak hours. Getting a trusty Thai fix to satisfy your craving is a lot easier, now that Nakhon has 3 outlets. The Tom Yum soup (you can choose to have the clear or thick base) here is tangy yet subtly sweet, and will kick your butt with its spiciness. If you need a drink to quell the spiciness, their Thai Iced Tea will do the trick. Most dishes are reasonably priced, with meats ranging from $6-$8 and seafood dishes priced from $10 onwards. Order a plate of rice to go with your dishes so you can mop up all that saucy goodness.

Known for its cheap and good Thai food (as they boast on their signboard), Jai Thai has become a favourite for many. Indecisive ones will be glad that they have a mixed platter of appetisers, comprising fishcakes, prawncakes, deep fried Thai spring rolls and deep fried beancurd. The Green Curry Chicken is aromatic and pleasantly lighter, so you can pair it with rice without feeling sick. Order the Steamed Tofu with Chicken Basil; the combination goes surprisingly well. If you're heading there for lunch, consider getting their set lunches that come with a main course, drink and dessert.

Conveniently located just a 5-minute walk away from Dhoby Ghaut station in School of the Arts (SOTA), I'm KIM provides students in the Orchard / Bras Basah area with a great place for no-frills Korean BBQ. They offer a great variety of meats and other Korean favourites including japchae, rice cakes, and a selection of soups. Be sure to get some of their signature volcano chicken, and if you don't take spiciness too well, fret not - there's free flow teas, juices, and iced water to take as you please. Oh, did we mention they have great ventilation as well?
