Cafe Hopping
Handsdown, the best truffle fries ever! Fries consistently crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside. Drizzled, not showered with a generous amount of truffle oil and parmesan cheese. Wash it down with a cup of milkshake. This is what cheat day is all about :)
Scrambled eggs on toast is one of the best breakfast to have when you wake up hungry in the morning 😄
Decided to escape the heat of the day with a cup of coffee at The Providore. Love the glasshouse setting of this place, allowing sunlight in to make it bright and seem spacious. Nice place to catch up with friends or the book that one has been eyeing to finish reading
Excellent banana cake, moist and packed with bananas. The caramel on top was not too sweet as well. Nice place to chill and people watch on a weekend :)
One of my favourite dishes here at Artichoke. One mouthful is a full of different levels of texture and tastes, from crunchiness of the almonds & brussel sprouts to the sweetness of pomegranate pips.
An unassuming place to have a cup of coffee or tea and excellent cakes. We had the Belgian Indulgence, basically Belgian chocolate fudge cake. What I like abt this cake was the moist and rich chocolatey flavour, without being too sweet. In my opinion, it would go better with tea rather than coffee. They have different type of lava cakes as well, which will be for the return trip soon :)
This is what happens when Chorizo, Tomatoes, Caramalised Onions, Scallions, melted Monterey Jack meet a scramble made of not one, not two, but three eggs?! This was breakfast fit for the King; fresh, slight runny eggs, with the tanginess of tomatoes, savouriness of the chunky chorizo they are so generous with a kiss of sweetness from the melted onions along with that sinful, gooey cheese atop, each slice of the scramble makes you yearn for more. Honestly there is no need for bread with this, and with so many eggs this would make for that power breakfast you WOULD need. It's so satisfying that it made my day and I wish to come back again just for it!
I love the onsen egg and pulled pork, goes so well with the Japanese rice especially the flowing egg yolk :D Together with it was also mushrooms which I think had a tinge too much vinegar. Nonetheless, overall a good experience :)
My 2nd visit to Flock and the food is still as good :) Tried the banana french toast with bacon and it did not disappoint. The french toast drizzled with generous amount of maple syrup had lotsa eggs, the way I like it; bacon was crispy and the banana was nicely caramelised. One should eat all 3 components at once to enjoy the sweet, salty and crunchy at one go. Only gripe was that more bananas would be better and at $14, it is a tad pricey. Nonetheless, overall it was a satisfying brunch.
At last I managed to try the famed waffles of Montana Brew Bar. It has been on my list for a longgg time now. We ordered the chocolate banana waffle and pesto chicken pasta. Needless to say, the waffle stole the show. It was soft and crunchy at the same time and we could taste the chocolate in the waffles. The pairing with caramelised bananas and vanilla ice cream was perfect. I heard they have good burgers too after 5pm, which will be on my order list next time :)
Just next door to Taratata, this quaint coffee shop was formerly located at the present Potato Head Folk. Living up to the hype, the french toast was crispy on the outside and fluffy inside, with a generous amount of butter slathered on top. The kaya reminded me of the one my mom makes at home :) The teh c was thick and full of flavour, the way I like it. Will be back for more. I heard they have zichar at night too.
Start of the long weekend at my fave brunch place. The sweetness of the chocolate complements the sourness of the berries. Pancake was soft and fluffy too. A really good combination.
