Ramen 🍜
Which ramen stall is going to win?
I really liked the simple dark sauce with which the ramen was tossed in as it's fragrant with garlic oil. Loved the crunch factor from the addition of lightly blanched beansprouts and fresh chopped scallion. The meat items were executed really well too with the chashu being tender, moist and flavourful, and the pork filling of the four gyozas oozing with lots of juiciness.
By the way, I had this at the Bugis Junction branch (basement level) of Osaka Ohsho which I can't seem to geotag.
Special garlic and vegetables ramen from Miyamoto at Ramen Champion. A huge bowl of thick Japanese noodles in garlicky tonkotsu broth with wholesome roasted charsiew and pork belly cubes. The vegetables and pork belly were overly generous, but I'm not complaining at all.
These Gyozas have skins so thin yet crisp on the bottom after being pan-fried that they easily burst with a bite, leaking all that soup within and is well-filled with pork.
Ordered the strong broth and you could literally taste that intensity of the pork broth within that is so thick and sinful. This one comes with Sukiyaki Pork and an egg. It's quite interesting how the broth changes over time; the fatty bits of the pork melting into the soup causing chewable blobs within and the runny egg that is ever-slippery that would just slide around the bowl and eventually get absorbed into the broth, creating a less heavy but more refreshing broth alongside the noodles. For a guy who doesn't really fancy Ramen, I am in love!
