We were weirded out by the idea of having savoury tau huay. After trying 阜行's salty soy bean, I now find it better than the usual sweet version. 阜行's take is the best I've had, with the soy curdling into a larger, solid lump. Topped with chopped pickles, chives, and bits of fried dough fritters, it tastes shockingly similar to chawanmushi/a simple steamed egg custard.
Extremelyyyy FRESH sashimi. SO GOOD.
It's as good as it looks.
This is a definite must eat when you're in Taiwan! It's drizzled with their special sauce and the pork is so soft and it goes exceptionally well with the rice. The best is that the shop sells vacuum packed for tourists to bring back to their hometown! I'm so gonna go there again when I head to Taiwan! 😋
Salty soy drink?! What?! Don't be scared to order this! It is really good. It tasted like mashed steamed egg though. It's really yummy and I couldn't stop taking another mouth after another mouth! It has you tiao, soy beancurd, spring onions, chai por.. Combination of it just tasted great! 😋
Recommended by my sister. All of you who love this thing must definitely try this one in Shida Night market. Why? Because it's warm & goooooood! The bread is astounding soft and that piece of butter just melt in between those warm breads. Nth beats this one hands down. It's always long Q with lots of students! This is a die die must try!
Another local delicacy, pineapple pastry. Everywhere sells pineapple pastry in Taiwan, but what so special abt mine? This has egg yolk in it. Sounds weird? No it's not! Surprisingly, the combination of taste is really good! Love it that I taste both sweet & savory in one bite! I'm missing it so much now, wished I've bought a box back;(
