Wafflelicious
[NEW Menu] [Tanjong Pagar] [Launch: Jul 2015] The Quarters had introduced their all [NEW] menu with a local twist that is so Won-Won-Wonderful! Lemongrass and Pandan ice cream was citrusy and refreshing. Can't really recall the taste of the waffle, probably average I guess.
Location: Icon Village 01-09
Opening hours: 8am - 10pm (Mon-Fri), 10am - 10pm (Sat), 10am - 6pm (Sun)
Officially my 10th icecream waffle these 2 weeks! 3 scoops with waffle will cost SGD 15. Personal favourite will be the apple pie flavour with visible apple and crust fillings of the right level of sweetness. Brandy cherry tasted just like haw flakes that we were all too familiar with when we were young, not much of an alcoholic taste. Waffle was denser with some crisp on the outside, not my favourite type of waffle though.
[NEW] I Scream Pony!!! At this week - old cafe all the way in the east, choose between the ice cream or the pony! Crispy waffle but slightly dry. The ice cream was surprisingly thick and creamy, close to that of gelato. Lavender taste is pretty distinct and the gula melaka will be perfect if it's not that sweet.
[NEW] Geladiso has just opened a new 3-days-old outlet in the Newly opened Paya Lebar Square - doesn't this gelato waffle looks familiar to you?
Waffle with 1 normal + 1 premium scoop of ice cream will cost SGD 9.50
The gelato is rich and creamy with distinct pistachio taste. Rum wasn't too overpowering for the rum & raisin I chose. Sadly the icecream melted too quickly because the waffle was hot from the oven (literally). Waffle wise was dense and eggy, probably not my favourite type.
[NEW] Owned by the owners behind Ice Edge Cafe at Kovan, Chapter 55 is the new add - on to their family. With their powdered trademark, the waffle leaves up to its standard of being crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside.
At another relatively NEW cafe bakery in the heartlands, thick, dense and eggy waffle with minimal crisp. Ice cream was thick and creamy with just the right level of sweetness.
This 10 days old cafe is located within a small shopping mall at tanah merah and serves homemade gelato. Opened by a group of friends who are into photography and videography, this ice cream parlour is decorated with toy film cameras and superheroes cartoon on the wall. What interests me is actually the large clock hanging on the wall which doesn't have the usual numbers we see on the clocks. Instead, it has mathematical equations substituting the existing numbers, so solve it before you can read out the time. As the name suggests, go for their famous salty peanut flavour that is not commonly found in other places. The ice cream is creamy and milky with a chewy bite. This salty peanut tastes similar to that of peanut butter and the waffle is on the soggy side that has minimal crisp so give it a miss.
The battered fried chicken is quite tasteless on its own and with quite a noticeable salty taste. The chicken is quite succulent and not too dry. However the batter is quite thick and greasy. With drizzled maple syrup, it adds abit of sweetness to it. Waffle doesn't remain crispy for long and becomes soggy due to the amount of grease from the chicken
The waffle has a crispy and fluffy texture but on the dry side and a tad too salty during waffle making. Chocolate ice cream is rich thick and creamy but it lack the truffle taste. Drizzled with chocolate syrup and icing sugar, it isn't too sweet for my liking.
The waffle offered here is quite light and airy and there's a generous serving of caramelised banana with walnut and caramel sauce. Still a tad too sweet, I will prefer the one offered at Souper Sarnies instead.
Buttermilk waffle with caramelised banana drizzled with homemade salted caramel ($12.90) - The waffle is fluffy and airy and has a dry texture. The highlight of this dessert is definitely the caramelised banana that is done very well. Bananas used are well ripened and soft to chew. Topped with vanilla beans ice cream and salted caramel sauce, I will hope that they will be more generous with the sauce serving.
The waffle is crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside which is quite well made. However with Greek yogurt and apple compote, the waffling smell is masked, only left with the sour smell of the yogurt. The combination is on the sour side and I would hope that there will be a better balance between the sweet and sour taste.
