High Tea

Somewhere for a nice afternoon break to chill from a busy morning or busy week with a cuppa and a piece of cake!

Quaint little cafe situated in Potong Pasir offering a decent selection of cakes, gelato and coffee. Despite not being in town area, it actually drew quite a crowd and there’s a 1hr seating limit. Both their sponge and cheese cakes are pretty not bad. Their sponge cake is between a dense and fluffy texture, flavors were just nice not too overpowering. Their matcha latte is on the milkier side.

They have quite a decent options available for their ice cream too. Some of the more unique ones includes the white peach oolong and grape yakult.

This place makes a nice haunt for a chillax afternoon tea.

Known for their french pastries box and croissants, Le Matin Parisserie had earlier this year open a store with dine in concept along 77 Robinson road.

In their store, you could find a mixture of sweets and savory. Their sweet pastries are quirky and exquisite looking. They also had interesting flavor such as a kombucha tart, something rather earthy and nutty. Also featuring their granola bowl and french toast with caramel custard atop.

Personally felt it a bit too sweet for me. It would probably be much better if i had it with tea. But would probably wanna go back to check out their savories and croissants.

A 5 months old bakery situated in Icon Village of Tanjong Pagar serves artisan pastries ranging from cakes, scones, croissants, danish, sourdough to savories and interestingly crafted coffee. Price ranges from $4-10.

We had their Yuzu tart and Raisin Ginger scone. Their yuzu tart consists of a layer of jelly, mousse and bits of yuzu right in the middle, making the flavors more balanced and layered. The scones on the other hand was warm, crumbly and chunky with generous filling of raisins and ginger candy.

It was quite a cozy cafe to be in few months back but now there’s a growing hype so it could get crowded at times!

Pretty nice view overseeing the floating platform, MBS and the business district but the sun can get too warm as it shines through the window when it begins to set.

Their high tea is at $52 per pax for 15 dainty pieces, mix of sweets and savory and a pot of tea. Top up $16 for a glass of cocktail. Since it’s still the month of February, the high tea set is themed around Chinese New Year, pineapple, orange and more chinese flavors. I like how they started the course with an appetizing and appetite whetting Osmanthus granita with wolfberry infusion. Very chinese flavored and refreshing. My favorites is surprisingly their scones, radish cake and mandarin orange marmalade. Their scones are moist and flavorful. But other than that, some of it is a little dry and the flavors are generally not bright. But good company make up for all 😀

Sometimes we just need a short escapade from our busy work life to rejuvenate ourselves.

Throwback to the recent high tea at Skai. Pretty love their selections as they have quite a good mix of sweet and savory. Flavors is varied across the different dainty pieces such that you won’t get sick of it. From savory to umami to citrusy to sweetness to nuttiness etc! What’s more, you have a good panoramic view of the whole Singapore skyline to accompany you throughout your whole dining experience!

I really love the light fluffiness texture of the cloud. It has a very nice milkiness to it, in contrast with the citrusy strawberry basil fillings. It’s as though I’m eating airy marshmallows with strawberry fillings! Matches perfectly with a cup of Hojicha Latte which was bittersweet with a strong tea aroma.

How I wish I can enjoy my Mt Fuji at Mt Fuji itself! Lightly fluffed white chocolate whipped cream that's resemble the snowy cover of Mt Fuji. Beneath it, lies layer of green tea ganache and sweet azuki beans. Light bittersweet tart that is suitable for after dinner.

Served in a classy crate laid with black pebbles brings out the charm of the starter. Unlike what I expected of a silky smooth steamed egg, it's a smooth scrambled eggs alike texture topped with ikura, cavier and urchin. In love with how the flavorburst of ikura and umami tasting urchin complement with the eggs! Delicious starter to welcome the main high tea jewel tier!

Otherwise known as Sakura, brings about faint of flora and sweetness. The yoghurt parfait paired with red berries coulis, refreshingly sour and sweet. The Sakura soufflé was dense and good. While the texture of vanilla pudding could be smoother with added compote to intensify the flavors. The colourful mochi could be made chewier too. But on a side note, the hot soba tea with a hint of roasted barley note was quite of nice as an accompaniment of the parfait set.

Quite a perplexed feeling towards Saveur Art's high tea set. I would say they do a better job to their main courses than these dainty items. Among their high tea collections, personal favorites are their sweet stuffs like macaroons and mini lemon tart. Their savory sandwiches fare a little under the weather, with their mini buns been a little too tough to the bite and nothing spectacular in their flavor and taste. But definitely the ambience played a small role in making the penny spent worthwhile.

Delectable 3 tier high tea unveiling a medley of savory and sweet treats accompanied with free flow of coffee/tea and an additional Chef's Specials! Though it may fall on the higher end ($78++ for 2), but each delicate and exquisite pieces of treats and the panoramic view of Singapore is worth each penny spent. Their foie gras xiao long bao, creme brûlée, truffle egg sandwich and shredded crab bruschetta are my favorites for the day!

A tad different from the typical lemon tart with the Yuzu lemon curd a little more tardy and flavor more rich and intense yet not overwhelm with sour-ness. The accompaniment of beautiful ripples of caramelized melted marshmallow has accentuate the overall mouthfeel of this zesty lemon tart. Perfect for your afternoon tea!
