Campus Hunt!

Food that I find especially nice in school campuses in Singapore during my time as a NUS student

Amazingly delicious tortilla found in reedz cafe in school. Teriyaki chicken along with pineapple bits, compressed between two slices of roti prata-like flat pancake was a favorite food of my friend from the States and we were always disappointed when they have this item sold out after lunch time!

Out of curiosity despite many of my friends discouragement to do it, I gave this infamous ex "therealsingapore" ramen a try. My fren who is a Japanese food lover found it so bad that he had to go back and give the owner his personal feedback on the ramen. As an average Singaporean, I would say that this ramen is still acceptable, meaning by just edible. At $5 one can't really expect much good quality but hey it is still ramen! The noodles are a little too springy, soup too salty and char siew a little hard to chew on. Well that was it, maybe my last time eating at this stall in school then!

To keep this short and sweet. This is much better than the ones you find in pastamania and it's really of a good quality at $5.90. Just a few more before I finish the pasta menu!

My personal favorite from the cafe would be it's Aglio Olio and it's taste is so well balanced that I can eat this over and over again without feeling sick of it. For smoked duck, the quality is there, but not the quantity. However then again, at $5.90, it's pretty worth it!

I always wanted to try this in school but lacked the courage to do so. The grilled chicken was delicious, however I couldn't finish the pasta as the sauce proved to be too strong for me. At $5.90, there is nothing much for me to complain. Really.

At $5.80, one wouldn't complain much compared to the prices you get from outside school... I have to say that I was honestly impressed by the pasta as it felt that it was of above average. There were two slabs of fish, one mussel and a few fresh shrimps which went well with the cheese and chilli flakes. Most importantly the pasta felt real legit, maybe my expectations are low, but this truly surprised me.

($12.90) a worthy pasta for this price. 5 slices of smoked duck which were well cooked and it was ever so tender! Particularly liked the distinct tastes felt from the duck skin and the meat itself! The pasta sauce was delightfully gentle and did not have a strong cream taste to it. Staff were particularly friendly and this is a really chill place listen to the indie music as one works. Definitely coming back on my "free" day next semester!

At $9.90, this bowl of pho-like noodles, with some kway Teow felt like a mixture of Vietnamese Thai food as its soup base had a little spicy, sour yet refreshing taste . Particularly liked it along with its fresh shrimps and seafood! It's spring rolls were pretty decent too! Not your traditional Thai food but still a good variation!

At $2, this bowl of mee soto (chicken noodles) is filled with such great flavor that it resembles the one I had in bedok. (Limited edition in NUS, doesn't serve this everyday)

Found in NUS science canteen, is this stall that sells all sorts of noodles using the same chilli but allows you to mix and match what kind of add ons to your noodles. It is one stall that still has a queue at 3pm!! Chose the Bak chor mee version with dumplings and together with more noodles it was only $2.90!! Best value for money food in sch!

Situated in a Taiwanese specialty shop in utown serving this dish at $3.80. In my humble opinion, it's considered the best food I can find in utown compared to their food in the food courts
