Came here to try out their beef bowl as recommended by Burpple Guide, and this dish truly did not disappoint! Love love the medium rare char grilled hokubee beef and runny egg on top of japanese furikake rice. Reminds me so much of the beef in Japan!

A new cafe directly outside BHG Bugis. The cafe serves quite many different nonya cakes and other traditional food like mee siam and glutinous rice etc. Prices are rather reasonable and you may choose to sit indoor to enjoy the aircon or outdoor.

Here's #Karafuru's Cafe Au Lait eclair with milk chocolate creme, marzipan and dark chocolate sables.

At about 10.5cm (the pastry chef shares), the eclairs aren't massive, but I like how they managed to pack all that nuanced, complex flavours into a petite package.

Expect to queue on the weekends at this alluring establishment, and be prepared for a great meal. For something different, go for the Turkish Full Breakfast. If you like your runny eggs (of course you do), go for the poached organic eggs sitting atop braised ox cheeks, or the swoon-worthy Croque Monsieur. Finish off with a coffee, cider, or glass of white wine. Don't expect the usual cafe prices! Photo by Huixuan Tan

It's no surprise Ronin serves the best coffee in town, along with sister cafes The Plain and The Bravery. Boasting an ambience of of dark mystery, this is a place for quiet time alone, or a relaxing brunch with your best friend. Go for the French toast, and if you're up for something new, try the Wicked - a genius concoction of mint, chocolate and coffee that comforts your insides like no other. Photo by Alain Foodology

Quite a substantial amount of toppings, but that couldn't camouflage that stiffness of the pancakes themselves.

A far more substantial twist on eggs Benedict, but also far heavier on the stomach with meaty ox cheek in place of ham or smoked salmon.

Instead of kaya toast, the gooey soft boiled eggs are accompanied by a dense bun halved and slathered with a UK-imported lemon curd and clotted cream - dip the plain half into the eggs to moisten them.

Another passed-down recipe from the owners' parents is this glutinous rice, which I gobbled down almost all by myself. The fragrant rice, sticky but not too gummy, is peppered with dried shrimp, crunchy roast peanuts and crispy fried shallots. And that homemade chilli sauce on the side is just spot-on.

This is the lava cake of cheeses, with a 50% cream interior that gives the buffalo mozzarella its gooey texture in the middle. Topped with fragrant pesto and dolloped onto crispy buttered toast, it really can't get any better... Until you add $3 more for 6 lashings of salt in the form of prosciutto.
