Upper Bukit Timah/West
The Christmas edition of shibuya toast came with candy canes, whipped cream, sliced kiwis, blueberries paired with two scoops of after eight ice cream. The toast lacked in flavor and fragrance and the ice cream was just sweet, super sweet. I tried the rocher (it has bits of Nutella and some nuts?) and PBJ, the flavor was weak and everything was just creamy and sweet.
Finally a place that serves legit korean desserts in the west. Super love the injeolmi bingsu, they were super generous with their toppings!! Shaved ice was soft and fluffy and it wasn't overly sweet! The chocolate toast which they recommended came with a huge mountain of whip cream (I never liked whip cream) and I was kinda turned off by it.... But i gotta be honest, it doesn't taste as bad as I thought it would. The toast was crispy and buttery and a little whip cream actually goes well with it. Tastes like ice cream with toast actually. The Injeolmi toast was da bomb - buttery, crispy, sticky chewy rice cakes and a generous amount of soybean powder. And there's dried cranberries !!! (not too sure if it's me, but I usually don't think there's dried cranberries in Injeolmi toast?) Yummmz. All those for $23.10? There's a 10% opening discount off everything. Super worth it!!! I'll be back 😌😌

New ice cream parlor in the west 🎉🎉 YAY
The Sicilian Pistachio ($3.8) was rich in nutty flavor, I secretly hoped that there was more crushed pistachios because I really love the crunchy feeling that I get 🙈🙊
The bf is a fan of tea flavored ice cream and so we will always order Earl grey ($3) if there is. Glad to say that theirs was fragrant and not too sweet 👍
The salted caramel/sea salt caramel ($3) however was a run of the mill. I could hardly taste any saltiness in it. However, I saw reviews on it being too salty. I guess the inconsistency is due to them still trying to work on the balance of the sweet and saltiness. I hope they find one that they like and settle on that!
The waffles ($5) was a little pricey, the ones that I usually get at salted caramel (upper thomson) was double the size at ($3.5) so yup. The waffle itself did not carry much flavor but the textured was good - crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside.
Also tried an iced americano ($4) and peppermint tea ($5.5)
Overall good experience, I can see myself coming back soon! 😊😊
From the folks behind Lola's, they've now opened a new cafe in the west (pasir panjang). Tried the Duck leg with mash, crispy honey wings, tomato swimmer crab linguine as well as fries with truffle mayo. All the food were to my liking but I would prefer truffle fries than to truffle mayo, me no like mayo and I feel that it's better to serve the fries in a shallow basket so that the ones below won't turn soggy. One more fave cafe into my list. Spent a total of $65. Staff are pretty helpful and friendly, love their interior too. Oh, and their beans are from Dutch colony as well if you're wondering 😉😄 p/s they don't have GST or service charge 😉😉
Baileys & Brownie, Pistachio and Coconut on waffle ($12++). Their ice cream are self made and I must say they are pretty impressive given that they are not specialized in making ice cream. (They are just a little on the sweeter side) Super love the three flavors 😋😋 just a little more improvement on their waffles and it'll be all good.
Gooooood cofffffffeeeeee 😄😄
Dropped by necessary provisions today. Ordered espresso with I forgot 5 or 6 oz of milk (you can choose the amount of milk you like). Although the coffee tasted a little bright but I still love it. Had banana and Nutella panini as well as beef pastrami, simple fare but nothing to complain about as the prices were decent. The banana cake however tasted a bit off - like it was kept in the fridge for quite some time and it had absorbed the smell of whatever was in the fridge 😖😖 I like the pandan chiffon cake though 😄😄 will definitely go back again. A little inaccessible, as we cabbed in and out of that area.
And if you're wondering (like me) why a piccolo latte cost more than a latte when there's actually lesser milk...... It's actually because the piccolo is a double ristretto 😄😄 while the latte is a single. Dayum. But still..... $1.5 for an extra shot is a bit too expensive 😩😩
A pretty new cafe which serves beans from oriole. Order two lattes ($5 each) and there's only one word: excellent. It was well balanced and smooth. Will definitely go back again. Hehe. Lemon tart ($6.8) was good too, was never a fan but now I'm a changed (wo)man, apple crumble ($6.9) with ice cream (add $2 for a scoop). Enjoyed my afternoon there. 😌😌
