The good folks of Group Therapy now provide sanity and comfort in the East, with their second outlet located in the basement of Katong V. This spacious retreat feels rather different from their first at Duxton, but the food is quite the same. Enjoy a good cup of coffee and their go-to Eggs Ben if you're lazy to travel all the way to Duxton on the weekend! Photo by Veronica Phua

At this two-storey shophouse along Bukit Timah, bring a small group of friends and for a hearty brunch. Go for the 62 degree eggs benedict with smoked salmon ($22), and finish with the slighty odd but insanely delicious French Toast that comes with fried bananas, and is stuffed with chicken, spinach and mushrooms and finally smothered in strawberry-smoked maple syrup. If you're serious about your coffee, you'll love Nylon. Be prepared for a tiny, tiny spot under an Everton Park HDB block that aims to satisfy caffeine addicts one cup at a time. With an overflowing passion for coffee, these guys source, roast and brew coffee from all around the world. Don't miss it if you're in the area! Photo by Greedykat Scruffs

Brunch in this brick-walled space is always a lovely affair, from the ambience to the well-executed food. Favourites include the Flan ($23), pork cheek confit with sauteed mushrooms, a perfectly poached egg, and a mountain of rocket sitting in a light pastry shell. The truffle fries are so delightful, it's worth popping by anytime you're in the neighborhood! Finish off with their decadent waffles. Photo by Jennifer Yeo

While the space here might be tiny, the flavors definitely are not. With beautifully rustic, house-made bread, their decievingly simple sandwiches are such a delight. For a starter, order the "Not so humble eggs" ($6), a winning combination of thinly sliced Jamon ham on top of perfect soft boiled eggs that will make you want to order a second bowl. Expect a crowd on the weekends! Photo by Su Ann C

This new kid on the Thomson block is a lovely new space that offers simplicity at its best. Sharing a space with Crust (which takes over after 5pm), One Man Coffee serves up superb brioche French toast and Toad in the Hole eggs with bacon jam that has everyone swooning. They also carry small pastry bites from Bakery Artisan Original (BAO). Photo by Alain Foodology

While located on a busy road, Assembly Coffee manages to remain a lovely little nook full of natural light and good vibes. You'll feel instantly transported in this cosy hideout, complete with good coffee from Liberty beans. Treat yourself to a fluffy Salted Caramel Waffle while reading your favourite book. It's no surprise Ronin serves the best coffee in town, along with sister cafes The Plain and The Bravery. Boasting an ambience of of dark mystery, this is a place for quiet time alone, or a relaxing brunch with your best friend. Go for the French toast, and if you're up for something new, try the Wicked - a genius concoction of mint, chocolate and coffee that comforts your insides like no other. Photo by Alain Foodology

A calming environment with the perfect mix of vintage and industrial, Lola's is a great spot for a casual brunch. Their honey paprika wings are a hit, along with their trusty eggs ben. Pick a nice cider from their wide selection to go with your wings, and kick back for a relaxing weekend. Photo by gninethree G93
