Buffet
What do you mean, I have to wait till September to eat this again?! ☹️ Penang Hawker Fare ought to be a 365 days a year affair.
How I wish I was at Catalunya again today, lapping up all these indulgent goodies. What I love about Spanish food is that it's so colourful, flavourful, and FULL OF CARBS. Potato, potato, rice, bread, potato... *-* So much win.
The potato foam is one of my absolute favourites in the buffet (read: FREE FLOW), consisting of sweet caramelised onions topped with velvety, ultra-light siphoned potato purée and egg sabayon.
The bikinis are also delightful – daintily skimpy sandwiches whose size is of no proportion to the flavour they bag. There are two flavours: vegetarian zucchini & pesto and truffled cheese & jamon – my vote goes to the latter cos I'm a sucker for truffle anything.
The paella is one of Catalunya's signatures, though the toppings vary from week to week. I like how the rice is done just right with a firm bite, imbued with loads of crustacean-y flavour, and topped with fresh, briny seafood.
Ugh, so jealous of all the peeps who will be enjoying brunch at @catalunyasg in just a bit. I wish I'd eaten more yesterday, especially of this simple, but exceedingly tasty dish of fried potatoes with lightly scrambled eggs and thin shreds of Iberico ham; this lattermost can be substituted with chorizo or mushrooms.
What's also exciting – @catalunyasg usually holds a Bingo contest every last weekend of the month, in which one winner is entitled to return with a friend for a complimentary weekend brunch session, but if you can't wait until end August, book your seats for the National Day weekend (8-9 August) as there'll be an additional Bingo contest running then!
I got all I need when I got you and I
I look around me and see sweet life
Can't stop my heart when you shinin' in my eyes
Can't lie, it's a sweet life~
Thank you, @burpple and @catalunyasg for the invitation and for hosting this amazing meal.
Weekend brunch at @catalunyasg is in session! This is the ultimate Spanish indulgence.
Feeling a little like death today, but nothing will stop me from having my favourite desserts at Kuishin Bo. The items change very frequently, but two mainstays are the pillow-soft, chewy mochi – red bean and peanut – which are made fresh in the RE&S central kitchen daily.
Also highlights in the buffet spread are the Chinbin (rolled-up pancake) and Sata Andagi (dense, crumbly "doughnut"), which are part of the Kyushu & Okinawa food fair that will run from now until 27 September. Both desserts are traditional Okinawan treats made with the prefecture's specialty – black sugar.
At just $19.80++ per head, I'm quite impressed at the all-you-can-eat spread, featuring an array of Peranakan classics like kueh pie tee, laksa, mee siam, beef rendang, kong bak pao, and itek tim. And of course, no Peranakan meal is complete without at least 8 different kueh.
The laksa is probably my favourite item in the buffet line, with everything else just about passing muster in terms of taste. There's nothing much to shout about, really, besides the fact that you get to pad your tummy without breaking the bank.
Free-flow of this yummilicious, fun-sized pork cheek burger assembled with paprika buns and coleslaw if you're at @manhattan_sg's Sunday cocktail brunch right now!
If you're heading to Manhattan for their first installment of the Sunday cocktail brunch, make sure you sample all five of their homemade cream cheeses: salmon, blueberry, sundried tomatoes, blue cheese, and herb & chive. My favourite combo has gotta be the toasted onion bagel, slathered with blue cheese and garnished with blackforest ham and shaved asparagus.
Topped with caramelised apples and bourbon maple syrup, this is just one of the many free-flow treats – foie gras, lobster, pork sliders, countless desserts! – that are part of the new Sunday cocktail brunch at @manhattansg, starting this weekend.
Zhng-ed my waffle with chocolate and raspberry sauces, choco pops and five little gummy bears. 😋
Probably the four best items on the buffet menu.
