Cafés In Singapore
wanted to try their big breakfast ($15) but it was sold out at 14:45. Penne alla vodka is cooked in creamy tomato sauce vodka infused accompanied with garlic-laden penne, 4 bouncy prawns, sliced onion and cherry tomatoes . Overall a good combi, apart from the Penne being a little too soggy (I prefer mine al dente/hard) I really enjoyed this dish. Will return for their PBJ French toast! Can't wait~
and so..... I made it here for lunch! thanks to one of our fellow tastemaker, I got to know that the chef will be implementing a new menu so this BRB Pancakes ($8/single, $12/double) will no longer be available. (Today is the last day they'd be serving this darling) Boo :( it's indeed worth the trip down and I'm lucky that I managed to savor this! Think fluffy, buttery pancakes filled with blueberries, ricotta cheese and bacons on the top. It is really sinful but who cares! Price is nett, no GST or service charge so it's a free seating/order at the counter kinda concept. Can't wait for the launch of their new menu since they mention to me it's sort of an "upgrade" :)
One of the better brunch dishes though expensive. Unique twist to the classic poached eggs on muffin with hollandaise sauce. The texture of egg is cooked to perfection that it can be picked up easily even when it's broken. Did I mention the honey glazed bacon?
This cafe (Three Years in a balloon) deserves a shoutout! I'm surprised there's no review for this place and I think it's under the same establishment with Wimbly Lu. They only operate on weekdays from noon-7.30pm. I heard that they are good for their waffles but I haven't try it.(it's prolly the same as Wimbly Lu's) Go for their pear with cranberry tart. It is really good. Interior is pretty interesting as well. Will revisit!
As shown: waffles breakfast ($15.50) November burger ($16.50), rosti breakfast ($16.50) the rosti was pretty good!!! and November egg ($16.50) we requested for poached egg (initially they didn't allow the change but we kinda insisted) food is pretty good and portion is big, justifiable for the price however we waited for almost an hour for food to be served. I hope this can be improved but nevertheless I totally love the interior and ambience of the cafe(dim and ristic) the spotlights can get a little warm and unbearable after awhile though. I will revisit them for their sweet waffles.
Back on a second visit to try out their lunch menu. Noticed most on the items are either beef/vegetarian so we both had the same thing- chicken panini ($15) it was HEAVENLY. Love the texture of the bread. Instead of chicken breast, there were thick chunks of chicken thigh meat that tasted so tender and sweet. Love the avocado purée and the combination was magical. Who needs variety? Ok I'm not bragging, just personally enjoyed it a lot. 😁 only one downside of it is the slice of bacon in the panini which tasted like Chinese roast pork but I can make do with this.
Grilled sausages with onion jam ($23) additional smoked salmon ($6) refer to my previous review.
One of my new favorite! This Aussie style cafe wins hands down in terms of food, service and ambience. Went there on a weekday morning for breakfast and it's pretty quiet. Nice place to chill at. Went ahead to pimp my breakfast: smoked salmon($6), fried of scrambled eggs ($5), sour dough ($4) with grilled mushrooms ($4). They were generous with their serving and there's no service charge.
Went to the takeaway outlet at upper Thomson. The mushroom with pumpkin quiche($6/slice) was heavenly. They were really generous with their fillings. Yummy! Try their signature cinnamon roll ($4)!
I don't really take beef, my partner had this and love it. The meat chunks were tender and I love the toast! The texture was really good. Their second recommended dish ($15.90) apart from my duck pancake :)
I've always thought that their truffle fries are overly hyped up. Ps cafe has always been my favorite place for cakes and tea. But now I'm officially a fan of their fries! These are no ordinary shoestring fries, love the texture and generously infused with truffle oil. It's a must try albeit pricier, the serving was really huge!
This cafe is quite inaccessible unless you're driving it's not really worth the visit. It's very small thus seats are limited and you gotta share a table. Pricing is relatively cheap. I had the Sundried tomato with mushroom and cheese panini ($7) and peperoni panini ($7) they were both quite unique as I seldom see panini presented in such thin slices. It's crispy on the outside and the gooey cheese inside goes well with the crust. Quite shiok but not really filling unless you're a very small eater. Overall a great place for tea. Try the coffee! I think it's $3.50 per cup and it's pretty decent. Service is excellent!
