A good crust must made a simple and humble apple pie into something awesome... Love the flaky, all butter crust. Honestly, am pretty proud of this pie.
Have a few piece of stale challah bread from last week. It's a breakfast for Saturday morning. I make french toast. I love how the bread make a sturdy-yet-gooey-inside kinda french toast. Serve it with cinnamon sugar or ovomaltime spread #latepost
Last week I decide to try to make a batch of challah bread. It's been years since the last time I baked some bread. Fun. Uh, it's un-kosher 'couse I used melted butter #latepost
Another Saturday baking project by me & my sister.. Can't find graham crackers for the crust, but we manage by using whole wheat digestive biscuits.
Making homemade chicken katsu in this rainy day, serve with emergency tonkatsu sauce (1 tbsp ketchup + 1 tbsp worcestershire sauce). Need to practice my sogigiri cutting technique more š
On the left: pan fried boneless chicken thigh, garlicky french beans and moyashi, red rice and sambal matah. On the right: red rice, garlicky french beans and moyashi, sambal matah and crispy shrimp & sambal Bu Rudy (the crispy shrimp and sambal Bu Rudy are store bought tho, very famous in Surabaya)
Today's lunch box. Korean beef bowl.. Find this recipe on steamykitchen.com. Very easy, and pack with veggies too.. I think you could easily change the beef to chicken.
Trying out new pancakes recipe using sour cream.. So light and fluffy (using only 7 tbsp of all-purpose flour). I like to top it off wit honey, but husband love to drench it with caramel sauce (hmm.. Talk about sweet tooth)
This is my take on Nigel Slater's bolognese sauce that I found in Food52 website. I omit couple of things tho, like the pancetta (I honestly forgot to buy this) and celery stalk (can't find it in the supermarket). It's kinda spur at the moment try out.. Despite all the fuss of chopping up the onion, carrot, tomato, an hour long of braising with broth and red wine. It's all worth it!
My 2nd attempt at making home made jap chae. I can't find Korean sweet potato glass noodle (dangmyeon) at the supermarket, so I use local glass noodle.
Today's lunch box. A straight forward and no fuss chicken teriyaki (with only 4 ingredients no less), but I give a little tweak, grated garlic.
Today's lunch box after couple of days hiatus from my kitchen.. Added a table spoon of sri racha sauce for a bit of a kick :))
