Cafes
Saw this pop up on Burpple and got a chance to pick this up after lunch last week.
So glad to have somewhere in the neighborhood that does a great Dirty Matcha! Thoroughly enjoyed this - the matcha was smooth and not too bitter, and was well balanced with the milk and coffee. The barista really knows her stuff đź‘Ť
We can now meet our friends and chill over BBT. So why not try a new, local BBT cafe - Forbidden Tea - at Marymount CC (Bishan)? If you dine in, you’ll get to sip on your BBT in proper glasses (not the typical plastic cups).
•
[Verdict: Terryfic 👍🏻] Matcha Latte ($5.90/6.90). This is my favourite of the three drinks I’ve tried. Perhaps I’m partial to matcha. The proportion of matcha powder to milk is just right, making it not too overwhelming for those who aren’t a big fan of very gao (concentrated and bitter) matcha drinks. And it’s pretty smooth since the matcha powder mixes very well with the milk.
•
[Verdict: Terryfic 👍🏻] Classic Milk Tea ($3.40/4.40); Add Pearls for $0.80/1.20. One of the three signatures here, the milk tea is rather comforting. I’m not the biggest fan of pearls in my BBT but I like the soft and chewy texture of the translucent pearls. Each and every pearl is painstakingly made by hand in store. And they come in taro form too.
•
[Verdict: InTerrysting 👌🏻] Passion Fruit Jasmine ($3.90/4.90). It’s pretty much what you can expect in a fruity tea. There’s a strong fruity and flowery note when you drink the tea, making it light and refreshing. It would be perfect if there was a stronger passionfruit taste.
•
The prices are rather affordable and it’s wallet friendly for students. If you’re a student of EJC, count yourselves lucky that you can grab some BBT after school.
•
They’re open for dine in from today. So you can slowly chill and enjoy your BBT in air-conditioned comfort.
•
Thank you @forbiddentea_sg for having me!

P.S. Can’t wait to try their signature Rice Oolong soon. .

Found this unassuming cafe at Beauty World and we were very impressed by the coffee. The iced flat white was strong and really well-flavoured - we opted for the more nutty, malty beans rather than the more acidic, floral beans offered. Service was slightly slow though; we waited about 15min for the coffee but I’d say it was definitely worth the wait.
A lovely cafe in the heartlands! The place was nicely decorated and had a cosy atmosphere suitable for friend or family gatherings. The service was good as the staff greeted us with smiles whenever we ask for something.
Food was value-for-money! Ordered the Truffle Pasta, Mentaiko Pasta and Fried Chicken Waffle!! All of which were really tasty, especially recommend the truffle pasta which had really strong truffle fragrance! Must try the Lychee Osmanthus shaken ice tea too! Very unique and refreshing floral ice tea!!
Ended off the meal with their signature waffles and gelato. We finished everything even though we were already so full because it was so good!! Loved the Fresh Coconut and Osmanthus Oolong gelato which had great distinctive flavours!!
Best part is that they do not charge service charge and GST!! Great value!! Would definitely return to try more of their menu items!!
What I’d give to have Wheeler’s Yard’s “Iced Chendol-presso Ball” this very minute.
That frozen sphere is a concentrated hit of intense, aromatic coffee and gula melaka, perfumed with pandan leaves to be released under the heat of warm milk. Being able to control the proportion of milk to flavoured espresso is a big plus for me because I prefer to taste more of the rich coffee.
A great drink to sip on anytime. But perhaps not too late at night unless for whatever reason, you need a powerful rush of caffeine to keep you awake.
With a flat white to top it off. Newly opened at Holland Village! They also offer other brunch and mains options.
How about @bemyguestcafe ’s Crispy Chicken Cutlet with Cream Pasta $12 nett served with an onsen egg or Lion Prawn Mala Mee Kia $15 nett (includes a canned drink and a salad or cream puff)

Thank you @bemyguestcafe for the complimentary cream puff!
Came down just for this - it’s actually not a permanent item on the menu as they rotate their items daily, so make sure to check before making your trip! For the price, this was worth it - thick toast with oozy cheese (cheesiness leaned towards the lighter sort) and lots of cheese shavings on the top, with a side of peppers and rockets. Didn’t quite like that the dressing for the rockets was soaked up by the bottom side of our sandwich, but other than that, it’s a good sized dish to share!
Days ahead looking colourful just like this toast. It's served with housemade espresso berry compote and a creamy mascarpone before drizzling with honey. Nice one for the photo.

Nice place to hang out in a nice n quiet neighborhood... tried the truffle fries - came in a nice tray... on top with cheese n seaweed... yummy I must say! Other than that, ordered other dishes - mushroom alio olio pasta, big breakfast, chicken chop... let's go again one day for brunches!
Nestled in the basement of MyVillage, simple place for good coffee
