@kardamon.szczecin cafe has a warm, inviting atmosphere and serves great bakes as well as sandwiches. Available only on weekends, their version of a pastrami sandwich hits the spot. The home-made marinated pulled beef is marvelously tender, sauced with the mildly acidic tang of honey mustard sauce and enlivened with a sweet red onion jam, all sat on grilled sourdough bread. The only thing I'd leave off the plate would be the sprouts.

I've never has a cardamon bun before, but think a lighter cinnamon bun and you're not far off the mark. Aromatic, delicate and spiced with cardamon and sugar, these fluffy yeast buns are best eaten fresh and warm with a cup of tea or coffee.

Smooth, velvety cheesecake with just a hint of cinnamon, this is the perfect slice to go along with a cup of @kardamon.szczecin ‘s very good flat white coffee.

Pizza doesn’t have to be unhealthy. Take this wholesome yet flavourful combination of spinach sauce, chicken, feta cheese, tomatoes, broccoli and egg, which was moreish and moist.

All the wonderful flavours and golden colors of fall on a plate - sweet cuts of charred pumpkin and pear cosy up next to a moist, tender confit duck leg placed on a bed of moreish lentils and red onion. A surprising note of heat from chilli flakes is an unexpected but welcome touch.

The mains here are spectacularly HUGE, more than sufficient for two people and then some.

Don’t drag your knuckles, go ahead and order this hulking piece of meat on the bone. Sat on a bed of potato puree, the fork-tender pork went well with the sweet stewed apple and pungent horseradish that accompanied it. Wash down with a semi-dry and robust red.

Precious parcels of pumpkin stuffed ravioli with a toothsome bite are accompanied by charred chunks of soft pumpkin and pumpkin sauce. The dulcet sweetness of autumn is complemented with the crunch of chopped hazelnuts and the unmistakeable aroma of rosemary.

Light but flavourful, the crepes are paper-thin and filled with cream cheese and cured salmon. Served on a bed of baby spinach, cucumber and a side of yoghurt dressed in olive oil, this a healthy yet filling option for breakfast.

The quintessentially French sandwich is constructed from layers of ham and melty cheese baked between fluffy brioche toast, then topped with bechamel sauce and an oozy fried egg. Its an explosion of rich savouriness that is highly satisfying.

Singapore’s beloved McSpicy has gone international for a couple of years now, and I was chuffed to learn they launched it as a limited time promotional item a few months ago in Poland.

Does it it live up to the original?

The spiciness level and flavour are on point and almost indentical – a slow burn that culminates in a fiery mouthfeel that’s super satisfying. The crunchy batter and red-tinged marinade used on the meat is close too, unfortunately here they use breast meat instead of thigh, resulting in a dry, stringy patty. It’s still a decent rendition and fixes the craving.

Soft and delicate flavours permeate this traditional Polish cake comprised of layers of sponge and cream along with crushed walnuts. It’s called honey cake, and the sponge is practically infused with the warm, mellow sweetness of its namesake.

Mount Everest came to mind when I spied the gorgeously fluffy peaks of meringue topped croissant. Inside, lush lemon curd delighted the senses with mouthfuls of citrusy sweetness.
