In case you were unaware, this chain is unrelated to the Mak Mun Kee (Parkes St) which most folks rave about. After seeing multiple 麦尖s pop up all over the island including a joint at The Peak, I decided to give it a shot to gauge the standards and judge. In my personal opinion, I wasted some stomach space. The noodles were as springy and the soup base tasting very similar. However, the key and apparent difference was in the wanton. This 麦尖version is smaller, not the whole prawn and the freshness seems to be lower. I would rather walk back to Parkes St anytime or my wanton mee fix
Went to the Yee Wo branch this round. Other than the usual godly Char Siew, do be reminded that their osmanthus cakes are also out of this world. Friends were delighted with the other recommendations today. Roasted Pork (Siu Yok) Beef Tenderloin in Garlic, Char Siew Bao, 流沙包
Well-Established Dim Sum joint that continues to draw the crowd. Generally good standards across items.
Just 1 street away from the 甘饭馆 roast goose and along a few korean restaurants, you will find another highly rated dessert store. The picture shows the queue at 2230hrs away in Tin Hau. Famous for their durian beancurd jelly.
Recommended by a local. This joint is related to the Yung Kee version. They serve the lean yet wonderfully tender version of the roast goose. Not the fat 2kgs type you get at Sham Tseng. At
Incredible.. 5mins away from Causeway Bay at Happy Valley, you find a cooked food centre which operates at night serving Tze Char. Try the seafood, roast chicken, lotus roots, sweet sour pork and absorb the local atmosphere
It is always tough to find a not so commercialised dessert stop amd we bumped onto another recommendation just check out the queue and you get my point. This is a thursday night at 2330hrs. Try the Longan Coconut Ice.. They use fresh longans which you can taste quite immediately. New haunt found
Read reviews on this place and wanted to try out the fusion soup base they offered. Tried the souffle tomato, the 麻辣escargot base and the basic clear soup. Probably more exciting than the usual steamboats. Tip: go after 9pm and you get 1for1 promotions on beef items, beer and soft drinks or 30% off the seafood packages
This was the recommendation of the restaurant. Was expecting the usual "Soy Sauce" chicken but didnt expect this claypot of delight. Half a chopped chicken infused with leek and onions. I will come back just for this
Nope. Not Yung Kee. That's overpriced. Head down to Sham Tseng a.k.a Roast Goose town. Big names are Chan Kee and Yue Kee. Yue Kee is my preferred choice.
It is a seafood sharksfin restaurant, but the star is the Char Siew which keeps regulars coming back for more. Served warm, the charsiew is malt glistened on the surface and tender inside. Ask for the fatty cuts if you are a fan and you will be able to experience "melt-in-your-mouth" Char Siew
Crackling crispy roast pork, take a break from the casinos and head to Hak Sa for this treat and other delights here. Warning. Lunch crowd is terrible
