Thinking about where to go for breakfast tomorrow? Why not visit the Bendemeer Market located right outside Boon Keng MRT! Snaking queues are always seen at this stall and when there isn't a queue, it's only because their dishes have sold out or it just happens to be your lucky day. While the Lontong is not their signature dish, it is undeniable that 29 Delights serves up a decent bowl of Lontong too. Add extra chilli for an extra oomph and to up the shiok factor. Their more popular dishes are their Mee Siam and Assam Fish (yet to try the fish because I'm not a huge fan of fish). And I assure you, at least for the Mee Siam which I've tried numerous times, you will not be disappointed.

Had brunch with a friend the other day and got myself the Basic Works: scrambled eggs, crispy bacon and butter toast(which I changed to a salad). My friend had the signature Steak and Eggs. The scrambled eggs were buttery and fluffy, probably one of the better scrambled eggs that's available outside. What's better than bacon? Slightly crispy bacon lightly drizzled with maple syrup. Considering the price of 10.50 (I paid an additional 2.50 to change the butter toast), I would say that the Basic Works is really value for money. I didn't have try the Steak and Eggs but from what I saw, the steak was cooked unevenly, so while the steak was ordered medium rare, some parts of it were almost well done. The sunny side ups were however, done just right, with a runny yolk and a slightly wobbly egg white. At the very least, it's food for a good cause.

First of all, this dish looked like a monstrosity to finish. And it was. An excellent dish as a sweet dessert with maple syrup drizzled all over it, The Missing Pan goes one step further by stuffing it with chicken, spinach and mushrooms to lend a well balanced savoury and sweet aftertaste with each bite. The banana nuggets that were part of the dish were extremely reminiscent of goreng pisang albeit a modern day version, but still extremely yummy. Also, I think I forgot to mention "strawberry smoked" maple syrup? Absolutely delightful. Thought I had already gotten sick of All Day Breakfasts but The Missing Pan seems to have changed my mind.

I've walked past Freshly Baked by Le Bijoux numerous times at night, always telling myself that I have to try it one of these days. This is one of the better banana breads in town, moist with a slightly chewy texture. I really hate the ones that are dry and crumble easily. Suffice to say, I was satisfied with this loaf and I think I will be patronising the store again some time soon
