Rice Love!
AK's take on everyone's favorite Biriyani. Flavorful rice (that includes tempered onion, herbs, spices and potatoes) served with grilled tender chicken, raita, gravy/sauce and kind of a crunchy bread (like papadam). For Rs.390 (plus taxes), it's a filling meal & a good change to try in Colombo, which is filled with so many Indian Biriyani options.
Mandi rice served with grilled marinated chicken. Distinctly different from the Indian rice dishes. A filling meal.
One of those good dishes to try at Mirage. Rice mixed with seafood & chicken; accompanied by a fried prawn, omelette, chicken satey, & chille paste. Portion is not huge, but enough for one. Damage is Rs. 550.
You can't simply hate spicy prawns. Amaravathi is well known for their Biriyani. Priced at Rs.710, this portion is easily enough for two, & comes with 20+ prawns & a boiled egg, raita, & gravy.
Not anywhere close to some of the offerings in Colombo; but still a decent Indian style chicken Biriyani..
Basmati rice spiced up with the likes of curry leaves & cumin seeds
One of those old school biriyani joints still to serve a decent chicken biriyani in Colombo. Fresh chicken is the key winner here ļ
Everyone loves Biriyani! Loved this spicy Hyderabadi version at Spice Coast (Marine Drive). It's basically prepared by adding Basmati rice & marinated & cooked chicken together & cooked on Dum (steaming) inside a sealed vessel! You gotta love the spices & the aroma! A Dahi Chutney (yogurt with onions) and another curry with gravy accompany it! :)
Tried the Kabsa rice for the first time. Quite tasty. I'd liked to have the chicken cooked differently, though; bit spicier. The place has a wide selection of Middle Eastern dishes. Nice service too.
