Enjoyed the Umami Mentaiko Smoked Salmon toast which was served on thinly sliced sourdough toast. Thought it had a good well balanced flavour that was sweet, savory and refreshingly tangy from the mix of housemade mentaiko and Tobiko, pickled cucumber and creamy sous vide Nuyolk eggs.
Thank you @burpple for the kind invite and @evanskitch for having us!
Served on thinly sliced sourdough toast, flavours of the Bbq pulled pork was great too with silky scrambled egg and cabbage slaw.
Another dish that I enjoyed was the North Malaysia Slow Cooked Coconut Beef Brisket Stew - essentially, a rich and aromatic beef rendang with pretty tender beef chunks; which was served with my favourite pappadum and toast (rice option is also available!). This is supposed to be for sharing but I think I could’ve easily finished it on my own.
Thank you Burpple for the kind invite and Evan’s Kitch for having us!
Personal favourite from the bake box we were given would definitely be this for the nice balance of sweet and savoury, light smokiness, with crisp pastry. Generally enjoyed their savoury bakes more!
Another favourite of mine was probably the burnt cheese cruffin! The latter was creamy but not at all cloying and again, had a nice flakiness to it when warmed up.
Inspired from our local dessert Bo Bo Cha Cha. Consisting of layers of sweet potato/ yam and chewy coconut mochi within flaky croissant, flavours were interesting but it was a tad heavy so good to share. I liked how much effort was taken to ensure no artificial flavours or colourings were used!
Thank you La Levain for having us and Burpple for the kind invite!
For those who are undecided, try their classics/ signature box! Housed in a beautifully designed box, this makes for a great gifting idea too. Personal favourite from the bake box we were given would definitely be the Arabiki Sausage Danish and the Burnt Cheese Cruffin.
Thank you La Levain for having us and Burpple for the kind invite!
Ricotta pancakes were fluffy and I enjoyed the yuzu curd. Comes with citrus compote, oranges, strawberries and vanilla ice cream.
A very healthy option with clean tasting bacon dashi green tea served separately; sous vide salmon done just right and nori on a bed of kinmemai brown rice
Ochazuke served with green tea are generally on the bland side but it’s meant to be light and easy - the rendition here is comfortingly so, with some salty/ flavourful toppings for flavour. A tad too healthy tasting for me overall but I particularly liked the fragrance of shiso here, and we hear it’s a good dish for hangovers.
Thank you @grids.circles for having us and

Bagels served are from @twomenbagelhouse so needless to say it was great!
I usually can’t go meatless but when it’s mushroom AND cheese I make an exception. The portobello bagel was very hearty and a good mess of thick juicy portobello mushroom, burrata, sweet cherry tomatoes and greens with a layer of hummus.
Coffee-wise, they are currently serving a house blend (Vanta - Brazil/ Colombia) and a single origin roast. Went with the Vanta blend, the iced white (4 oz $4.50) was pretty smooth and nutty.
This place is a perfect hideout for an afternoon in this unforgiving weather.
Pretty good option if grilled cheese sandwiches are not your thing. Grilled chicken was well-executed. Relatively crisp skin, was tender, flavourful with juicy mushrooms and bread to soak up the creamy stroganoff.
I liked the chewy texture of the mochi donuts while the mochi croissant was dense but slightly crisp.
My favorite of the lot would definitely be the raspberry white chocolate glazed mochi donut - it was surprisingly not too sweet and the dried raspberry bits gave a nice tangy tinge! The others were a tad too sweet for me.
This gift box, perfect for those with sweet-tooth ($18/ box) comes in an assorted 6 pieces of the following flavours for the mochi croissants/ donuts - Madagascan Vanilla, Raspberry Chocolate, matcha white chocolate glaze, brown sugar caramel, butterscotch pecan and a cutesy butter and sugar sticky bun.
