Cycled to les mains only to find that they’ve stop baking tarts that were highly recommended - thankfully there were still sweets in non-chilled baked cakes.
I had the sticky date caramel cake which tasted homely but what made this visit delightful was the helpful and cheery staff here. Because of that this becomes an excellent place to people watch and hang out in the day.

Nestled deep in the suburbs of Siglap is newly opened hidden gem @lesmains.sg. The pastel-hued and minimalist interior belies the power of their patisseries. They specialise in artisan tarts, and their most popular is the signature Chocolate Whiskey Tart. This is ultra-rich Valhrona chocolate with the stinging bite of a single malt, ensconced in a delicate cocoa tart shell with a thin sheen of salted caramel. Certainly an intense one for the bold individual, or perhaps two to share. The force grows stronger in the East.

Seen quite a couple of posts on the new Les Mains Patisserie at 47 Jalan Tua Kong within Siglap — located at the foot of an apartment complex, it is situated beside a bakery named Bread & Bun; an outlet of Springleaf Prata Place can also be found at the stretch of shophouses that it is at. The space is decked in a pastel pink colour scheme whilst featuring wooden and rattan accents in its furnishing and fittings — somewhat trying to achieve a “Balinese-inspired” look that seems to be popular with cafes these days. Being more of a patisserie that was intended for takeaway operations, there are limited dine-in seating available here; during our visit there, we did notice that there are just two tables for dine-in patrons — one for four pax and one for two pax. Being a patisserie, the offerings available are largely cantered around different bakes and cakes which are all displayed prominently at the counter — for those looking for something savoury, the only savoury item available on the menu would be the Truffle Mushroom Quiche. Other items available includes tarts, cakes and choux puffs; choice of beverages are limited to espresso-based coffee and bottled cold brews.

We visited Les Mains Patisserie on a weekend morning — thought it would be good to try a savoury item to consider it as “lunch” whilst also giving one of their cakes / tarts / choux puffs a go; that was how we found ourselves going for the last slice of the Truffle Mushroom Quiche available for the day. Priced at $8.90, we were actually surprised by how the Truffle Mushroom Quiche comes with fresh shaven truffle over the top. Pushing the fork down into the quiche, it is noted that the quiche was sufficiently moist and soft; the eggy notes being particularly prominent while it also carries a slight whiff of earthiness from the mushrooms and truffle that comes in between. As one reaches closer to the ends of the quiche, the crust itself is also pretty well-made; the crust provides a light crunch — fairly toasty, while the base of the quiche was also not too thick as well. All in all, a pretty well-executed quiche that is especially satisfying for a light breakfast / lunch / tea break item.

Having only tried limited items on their menu, Les Mains Patisserie does feel like somewhere with potential — both the Truffle Mushroom Quiche and the Pecan Vanilla Choux are items which we found to have been fairly well-executed. We were also fairly impressed with their Cold Brew (Oat Milk) that we had went for; no doubt not the best, but still a very respectable rendition considering how they are primarily a patisserie and specialty coffee is probably not their main focus here. Les Mains Patisserie is probably still in the phase of figuring out what works in terms of its operations though; having first started out as a purely takeaway operation, to the extension of its operating hours to 5pm — Les Mains Patisserie is also currently exploring on serving up a breakfast menu soon according to their bio on their Instagram profile. That being said, dine-in space does seem like a constraint here at Les Mains Patisserie (a situation that somewhat reminds us of Three Nuts Baker which we visited some time back); looking forward to see what the folks here will be able to come up with as they ease into their operations.
