My favourite breakfast place in Taipei has got to be Yong He! (Be careful not to mix this up with other outlets like 永和豆浆大王 though!)

The highlight for me was the cheese 蛋饼 egg crepe/pancake that is almost like an egg prata. Drizzled with some special sauce, this was sweet and salty all at once. I really liked the crispy texture as well - other 蛋饼s I have tried have proved to be mushy/soggy and just not nice...

The soy milk was also really light unlike those you normally find in Singapore and so you wouldn’t get jelat so easily. Paired with the crispy 油条, this combination was just 💯

The adventurous me decided to try out the 咸豆浆 which was unfortunately a miss for me. Let’s just say it’s an acquired taste.

Taipei’s night markets are awesome for supper-goers, but for the early birds, breakfast is always a treat when you have spoils such as this: crispy deep-fried 油条 (dough fritters) first wrapped in spring onion omelette then enveloped in a flaky sesame-studded pancake. You’ll want to open your mouth wide for this one!

Some locals at the next table instructed us to dab some fermented bean chilli sauce on it, and that’s probably the best advice we received on the entire trip. That sauce is so dope, we bought jars of it to bring back home.

If only breakfast always looked this hearty. Not a fan of the Taiwanese savoury beancurd, but I die for those flatbread and pancake wraps.

Remembered this was good but sadly standards have dropped, noodles were soggy, youtiao was super oily & cold, still super crowded though.

Breakfast is provided in my hotel but I can't resist to order the basic set breakfast- ice soya bean and you tiao.

Local style breakfast to go with the authentic soya bean milk drinks @ 永和豆漿. Very interesting names for the food items too. We ordered the 狀元餐 (Scholar meal) - glutinous rice roll with fried egg, pork chop and pork floss; 探花餐 (2nd Runner-Up) - fried carrot cake; and 鍋貼 (pot stickers). Substantial breakfast to fuel the day ahead! 4 filled tummies for less than S$10 (drinks included)!
