Personally enjoyed the Thai-style lalas- very plump and portion was great for RM18 (~SGD6)! Would’ve liked the steamed version as it seemed fresh enough.

Quite a bit of a drive to Balik Pulau from the town but we happened to be there, decided to kill some time and headed up to this Taiwanese restaurant known for the kiln-roasted chicken.

Was juicy, not superbly tender nor flavorful but that’s pretty much about it so it felt a bit gimmicky to me. For more flavour, eat it with the oil/jus collected and dip in its side condiment (found a bit salty). Didn’t try this in TW but according to dining companions, it was decent but still pales in comparison to what they had.

The long beans were also very flavourful from the generous hei-bi. Beancurd was fried till perfection with hint of salted egg. The soups here are apparently slow-cooked for many hours - so that was pretty good but it wasn’t mind blowing.

Overall, the food is pretty decent but I probably wouldn’t travel the distance for it unless I’ve got plans around the area because there’s simply too much good food that are more affordable and with easier access.

(According to our grab driver, there’s quite a bit to explore in Balik Pulau and there’s a pretty good Assam laksa here!)
