The takoyaki gyoza is genius! So creamy and savoury and the flavour of bonito flakes went so well with the pork filling!
Please be warned, the food is pure garbage. I was starving and ordered the Tonkatsu ramen followed by Gyoza and Fried mushrooms. The ramen was the first to arrive and it’s arrival was similar to a jump-scare in a horror movie . Upon first glance, the bowl looked extremely unappetising with its lack of class for a $13.80 dish. But I thought to myself , hey I can’t judge a dish by its appearance! Taking a spoonful of the soup, I realised that this soup was literally the urine of abandoned orphans. The noodles stuck together like conjoined twins at birth. The chilli oil ,after mixing it in the soup was more than enough for America to invade. I only had a few mouths of the soup before giving up. After a few mouths of that disaster, I switched my attention to the Gyoza. The name of the restaurant is Gyoza ya so naturally you will expect their gyozas to be good. Unfortunately, I was served with blackened Gyozas looking like the underneath of a Nigerian man’s testicle. The taste was decent surprisingly and would rate it a 3/10. The fried mushrooms will deceive u as upon first bite , anyone with common sense would agree that it was not crispy and drenched in oil. It was so drenched and saggy I thought they were trying to imitate the sageness of their great grandmother’s breasts. Overall this restaurant is a 1/10 and I highly do not recommend anyone to patronise this restaurant unless it is to burn it down. Thank you
The fillings consist of mainly mushrooms which goes well with the truffle. However it's abit pricy for just 3 pcs
We had the mentaiko and crabmeat gyoza... Crispy on the outer layer of the skin and juicy filling inside... Abit like Xiao long bao...
Really? Granted, the gyoza here are more than decent, but to be rated no. 1 is really quite a big hat to fill... Nevertheless, at $4.80/ 5 pieces, I believe that’s the best value you can get in town. I liked how the gyozas are plump with minced pork, and how the skin is nicely crisp, but I thought the skin felt a little too ‘commercial’. Still, I’ll be back.
The upgraded version of the original mentaiko. I thought the mentaiko flavour was pronounced and flavourful but I didn’t feel it blended well with the gyoza. Furthermore, the sauce reduced the crispness of the gyoza ):
This Buta Ramen ($7.80, +$2 for spicy) is so damn spicy, it kind of reminds me of the the spicy volcano chilli from Ajisen Ramen. While tasty, I thought the noodles was overdone and the soup was a little too oily. Portion was kind of small too. But that portion of Chashu is quite generous.
Sweetish, smoky from charring, the miso offers creaminess to match the crisp dumplings.
This is the place for affordable and yummy gyoza.
Different outlets have one speciality gyoza, so drop by their website to find out what!
The combination of the tasty ( lean) minced pork sauce and crunchy cucumbers as well as the flat noodles come together so well. Adding some vinegar helps to cut through the richness of it all and adds a new dimension to the taste of the noodles .
Affordability priced at SGD 6.50 and portions are pretty generous .
I'm also not a usual fan of mentaiko but PMS hormone wreck made me order this today. The generous sauce also meant it's quite too salty, great for those who love strong flavours. The gyoza filling is generous too and panfried nicely, though I'd prefer them slightly more charred. [breaking news] my mum cooked boiled Korean mandus, which are essentially boiled gyoza for dinner. She can sometimes read my food craving over distance but it sometimes spells overkill 😅
Im not usually one to order soft eggs like this, but I wanted protein hence this overpriced rice bowl. I could eat so much more caifan with $6.80. This tasted quite bland, the pork is tender but so is lor bak. Not worth your money.
At a gyoza resteraunt you want them to be the star of the show and they did not dissapoint. Flavoursome and made fresh (I can see them being handmade behind the counter!). An affordable yet satisfying dinner.
So pumped up to try this gyoza that comes with mentaiko sauce drizzled on top! It sure was delish! Thin gyoza skin and full of juicy ingredients, yummmm
Hot and crispy on the outside with rich pork filling within the gyoza, smeared on top with generous serving of mentaiko, the combination was superb!
If you are looking for somewhere for some delicious bites, this place at ion orchard is definitely worth a try 😛!
Personally I dun really like garlic but someone the taste of garlic is not too extreme for me in this dish and is delicious for me. 4/5 rating.
They didn't have the cheese one but the Pan Fried Gyoza with Mentaiko ($7.80) - Their usual pan fried gyoza needs no further introduction but made even better topped with that generous amount of scorched mentaiko! FWAHHH!
Add on a side of Aburi Broccoli ($4.80) for a complete experience 😋
