For Instagram Worthy Pics
Situated in Eco Botanic which is about 30 minutes away from the city centre, this café boasts a unique interior, with its walls filled with line-art, giving visitors the feel of being in a comic book, (or A-ha's Take On Me music video for the not so young). The walls are not the only "Instagram-able" thing, as this being a café, there is most definitely food. 6D has a variety of Ramen, Sushi, rice dishes and drinks. Try their volcano pork Katsu Ramen (RM24), spider Maki (RM28), and their yoghurt smoothie (RM18), not only do they look fabulous, these dishes taste great!
Chef Halil Salim @ The Silver ForkPhoto By Silver Forks
For Affordable But Delicious Food
The tag line of this little Warung (small restaurant) just across the street from G5 hotel is "Hotel-grade food, but roadside stall price", which is absolutely true. The dishes are prepared by Chef Salim who had previously run kitchens in 5-star hotels across the country and even served in the Johor palace's kitchen, so you can be sure the food is fit for royalty. Try their Nasi goreng that comes in a variety of styles, seafood (RM7.50), Thai (RM8.00), deep-fried butter squid (RM8.50) and even sweet and sour prawn (RM7.50). You'll be hard-pressed to find anywhere else in the state that serves this quality of food at such an affordable price.

For Big Breakfasts And Australian Brunch Menus
Remember that café Jay Chou visited in JB? People and Places café? Well, sad to say it's closed down (their sister cafe Routine By Soon is also permanently closed), but don't worry, as it's renamed as The Founders Café and relocated to the nearby Tebrau industrial area. The brunch menu is similar, so definitely try their big English breakfast (RM29), or their hand-rolled bagels (RM9.90). Aside from the food, the décor and ambience of the café give off an industrial feel, so you're sure to have great backdrops for your #ootd Instagram posts.
TGI FridaysPhoto By TGI Fridays Malaysia
For Western Food
For those who have previously been in JB prior to the pandemic, you may have known that TGI Fridays was operating near the courthouse along Jalan Ayer Molek, but sadly have since closed. But on the 21st January 2022, they reopened a new outlet inside Mid Valley Southkey. Being the only TGI Fridays in the state, it is usually packed with customers who are most likely after their grilled ribs (RM95.90). For those not looking for ribs, give their new plant-based burger (RM38.90) or blackened chicken alfredo pasta (RM32.90) a shot. Speaking of shots, they also have their signature mocktails (RM14.90) to quench your thirst. Fun fact, you can go to Fridays on any day of the week (not just on Fridays), from 11am to 10.30pm.
