Yakiniku Like might be a fast food-style restaurant but don’t let that stop you from checking out their three (and counting) outlets across the island. We’re talking a value-for-money BBQ experience with individual electric smokeless grills that keep the smell away from your favourite clothes. Throw in 17 different sets - from less than $20 - and you’ve got a keeper. Try the Pork and Chicken set for $12.80) or top up for a 200g Australian Wagyu Steak Set ($32.60) that’ll have you salivating. They even have plant-based meats for the vegans!

Similar to Yakiniku Like, Yakiniku-Go has a variety of meat sets starting from a very affordable $9.80 with quick service to boot, though do note that they do not serve pork here. Favourites include the Angus Striploin Steak (only available at their latest outlet at JEM), Beef Tongue and Short Plate. There are also seafood sets like the Seafood Hoiru Yaki (squid, prawns and scallops) and Salmon Batayaki.

Waku-Shin Yakiniku

Located at Cross Street Exchange, make your way down to this yakiniku restaurant for yakitori, kushiyaki and of course yakiniku. Their Yakiniku Set Meal ($24.90 per pax) lets you choose any two meats (from beef striploin and tenderloin to chuck roll) and includes a salad, rice and miso soup. With Burpple Beyond, you can also enjoy their $33.90 Set which comes with a round of five sticks of kushiyaki and two highballs per person.

Tajimaya Yakiniku (Great World)

Housed at Great World, this yakiniku has been the go-to spot for premium Japanese Wagyu beef, Kurobuta pork and fresh seafood on their "smokeless" grill exhaust system perfect for dining in air-conditioned comfort. Order quality cuts of Kagoshima Short Ribs A4 ($58.80), Australian Wagyu Tongue ($46.80), Kurobuta Pork Jowl ($26.80) for grilling or enjoy their Sake ($12.90) and Kahiki ($17.90) sashimi for a refreshing palate cleanser.

To ‘Meat’ and bond is the unofficial motto at Hey! Yakiniku, which is one of the newer spots on this list. Opened in Bugis Junction last year, expect a smokeless grill experience with eight different set menus. Popular options include the signature Hey Set ($15.90) for 150g worth of beef short plate, beef tongue and skirt steak. Plus, all their sets come with rice, miso seaweed soup and your choice of salad. Another popular (and very wallet-friendly) set is the Australian Wagyu MB 4.5 ($19.90 for 120g).

Arriving in Singapore all the way from Hong Kong, Syohachi Yakiniku in Guoco Tower is the chain’s first overseas outlet, bringing with it its famed all-you-can-eat yakiniku buffet model. The A5 Wagyu Beef Buffet dinner starts at $70 a person (prices increase by $8 for Fridays and weekends) and features Sendai wagyu beef from an award-winning ranch in Japan.

Rocku Yakiniku is a casual and upbeat yakiniku buffet restaurant set to enthral you with its edgy vibes and bustling music of Korean, Japanese and Mandarin pop-rock variety. The meats here are flown in from the US, Australia and Japan with premium cuts such as wagyu beef brisket, Australian sirloin and short ribs.
