Bingeing time! Iβm obsessed with this bak kwa [a.k.a. barbecue pork slice] that hits all the right note β βοΈ Succulent and tender meat, βοΈ Charcoal-grilled smokiness with plenty of charred bits, βοΈ Hint of caramelised sweetness.
Note: As a traditionalist, I was initially skeptical about vacuum packed version as it may lack the freshness and smokey barbecue flavour vs freshly grilled.
That said, we felt that none of the above is being compromised and the vacuum-sealed slices of charcoal-grilled bak kwa taste much better than it look. We tried visiting the pop-up booth located inside FairPrice Xtra to re-purchase it during CNY period but they were all sold out by then.
Tip: For an optimum tasting experience, pop the bak kwa slices in the microwave for 30 seconds and enjoy it while itβs hot.
