New year, new resolutions, same old comfort food. There are two wildly popular bak chor mee stalls (that also offer curry chicken noodles, btw) at Kovan 209 Market & Food Centre. The one in the middle aisle seems to be doing better as it occupies two adjacent stalls, but I always find myself gravitating towards Fa Ji.
The handmade bouncy fishballs were a joy to chew on, while the noodles tossed in the spicy and vinegary sauce were alluringly ambrosial. The other components -- sliced pork, minced pork, pig's liver and a single meatball -- were deftly executed as well.
Over the years, the price of a bowl of 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝗠𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝗡𝗼𝗼𝗱𝗹𝗲𝘀 has slowly increased from under $3 to $4, but the queue hasn't gotten any shorter, which is a testament to its enduring quality.
