Quite the line-up from ISHI’s Ulala lunch set ($80), I really enjoyed all the offerings - nothing overly fancy but each dish was well-executed. For the starter, it was a tangy number with the delicate Medai (Japanese Butterfish) served with a light ponzu sauce and grated radish. Next, for the 7 piece sushi course, there were the young sea bream, botan ebi, yellowtail, aburi medai, akami marinated with soya sauce and topped with yuzu peel, smoked Spanish mackerel with mustard seed, and lastly a melty chutoro. Each nigiri was exquisite and lightly dressed to accentuate the natural flavours of the ingredient. Their shari (vinegared rice) was also nicely balanced and served to highlight the yummy cuts.
