Despite passing by the kopi tiam just next to Hougang Mall numerous times, it was only recently that I discovered these โpiglet bunsโ from the coffee stall.
Fluffy buns shaped like a pigโs head with raisins for eyes, they come with three different fillings: pork chop ($3.80), chicken cutlet ($3.80), and ham & egg ($3.50). Or simply get the set (plus two eggs and a coffee/ tea) for $5.80.
The ๐๐ต๐ถ๐ฐ๐ธ๐ฒ๐ป ๐๐๐๐น๐ฒ๐ ๐๐๐ป, with a humongous piece of chicken that was delightfully deep fried, immediately caught my attention. Crispy and juicy, it was excellent.
I initially gave the ๐ฃ๐ผ๐ฟ๐ธ ๐๐ต๐ผ๐ฝ ๐๐๐ป a condescending look as the slab of pork was pretty small. However it was very well-seasoned and succulent. What it lacked in size, it made up for in flavour.
The ๐๐ฎ๐บ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐๐ด๐ด ๐๐๐ป looked unassuming, but it was very tasty as well, thanks in no small part to the fried egg. All three selections proved to be stellar and you canโt really go wrong with any of them.
