Pizzaexpress has three different half-and-half pizza combinations and the giadiniera/funghi combinations is one of them! Both pizzas are tomato-based pizzas and they are made served as thin-crust pizzas so you don't have to worry about getting very full from this dish. It is just enough for two pax to share it!

To be honest, we think the only difference between the giadiniera and the funghi is that the former also adds on basil leaves and pesto sauce! Otherwise, the two pizzas are essentially identical - mushrooms and cheese atop a tomato-based pizza! The pesto sauce was great but it would have been great if more was used for the giadiniera as there are some parts that were not covered by the sauce. Mushrooms could have been more generous as well since they are not as expensive as meat and are supposed to be the main part of the dish.

Overall, we think both sides of the pizza were too similar and we would have preferred something more contrasting so that we can taste different flavours. Missed the old days when Pizzaexpress would let us mix and match any flavours that we like. 😰

Restaurant was rather empty on a Tuesday evening and dining environment was tranquil! We strongly recommend if you would like to have a get-together in a larger group and you don't want to be chased out right after finishing your food!
