It was my first time at Ghim Moh Road Market & Food Centre, and being a Monday, many stalls were closed as well, which limited my options greatly. Fortunately, I joined the queue for Chuan Kee Boneless Braised Duck and was rewarded with a plate of braised duck rice ($4.80) that I chowed down within minutes. Let’s first talk about the rice which was nicely fragrant and fluffy, followed by the all-important braised duck that had neither the dryness texture nor the gaminess flavour. The braising sauce is like liquid gold which provided the nice umaminess and savoury touch that elevated this humble plate of duck rice into Michelin Bib Gourmand stardom. The next time I am back at Ghim Moh Road Market & Food Centre, it is tough to not join the queue and get another plate of this duck rice.
