Nestled within the lush greenery of Bukit Timah is a 14 years old gem serving contemporary comfort food in a casual and relaxing rustic black and white cafe.

Well-known for their brunch menu, @riderscafe dinner menu is equally extensive with monthly specials. We started off with 𝐒𝐞𝐚𝐟𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐂𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐝 and 𝐂𝐮𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐝 𝐌𝐮𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐬. These dishes really showcases the freshness of the food served here. Part of their monthly specials, the 𝘾𝙪𝙧𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙙 𝙈𝙪𝙨𝙨𝙚𝙡𝙨 is a must-try that you may never get a second chance at!

Next, we had 𝐊𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐜𝐡𝐚 & 𝐊𝐚𝐥𝐞, a hearty and tasty vegan dish. A delightfully light dish that comprises of soft and creamy oven-roasted Kabocha paired with house-made tabbouleh and Miso Tahini.

For mains, we also had the 𝐁𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐏𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐂𝐡𝐨𝐩, 𝐋𝐮𝐦𝐩 𝐂𝐫𝐚𝐛 𝐀𝐫𝐫𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐚 and 𝐒𝐞𝐚𝐟𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐂𝐢𝐨𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐨. I highly recommend the 𝙎𝙚𝙖𝙛𝙤𝙤𝙙 𝘾𝙞𝙤𝙥𝙥𝙞𝙣𝙤 stew, a hearty and flavorful crustacean and wine broth with squid, prawns, scallops, clams, mussels, snapper and served with a side of soft and fluffy garlic flatbread. If you fancy some fusion food, definitely go with the 𝙇𝙪𝙢𝙥 𝘾𝙧𝙖𝙗 𝘼𝙧𝙧𝙖𝙗𝙞𝙖𝙩𝙖 which gives the Italian sauce a twist with our local delight and topped with a generous amount of crab meat. On a side note, I really like how tasty the roasted cauliflower steak (a side served for the Bone in Pork Chop) was!

To end off the lovely evening, we had 𝐂𝐨𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐮𝐭 𝐅𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐂𝐚𝐤𝐞 served with Santan Ice Cream and Gula Melaka and 𝐒𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐫 𝐄𝐭𝐨𝐧 𝐌𝐞𝐬𝐬, a rendition of the traditional English favourite with a tropical twist.

Over at @riderscafe , you can expect a relaxing and peaceful ambience that exudes a lovely old world charm with occasional glimpse of horses riding by. Though the cafe is quite secluded, a trip down to @riderscafe for a delectable meal in a tranquil setting is pretty worth it, especially when you’re looking for a serene respite from the hustle and bustle of city life. I’d say it’s an ideal place to impress your date!
