The Spider Maki, priced at $14.80++, sees soft shell crab rolled up with Japanese cucumbers into a comfy blanket of perfectly steamed Japanese rice and dotted in an abundance of tobiko.
Personally, I’d prefer soft shell crab to be served on its own so that I can fully savor the crispy crustacean, but Soshinsen does a good job of convincing me to settle. The soft shell crab within is remarkably grease free, and when combined with the cucumbers, it produces quite the almighty crunch.
The Japs knew all about rollin’ up the good good long before the Jamaicans or the Dutch, that’s for sure.
