This is a hearty chicken in soy based stew served with chewy Korean noodles, topokki & beansprouts. Option to get spicy version. (Dried chilies yesssss!!) When the dish is served, youβve got to stir the noodles and beansprouts into the gravy with the stacked lightly battered chicken.
As a result, the flavor of the stew is not immersed into the meat which is a pity. The chicken is still good though I definitely prefer the traditional Andong-jjimdak (Korean Soy Sauce Braised Chicken Noodle Stew) where the chicken is braised in a sweet but mildly fiery stew with onions, carrots and potatoes. With braising, what you get is the fall-apart tender meat that holds all the wonderful flavor underneath.
