Ting Zai Zhou, or lychee boat congee, is one of our favourite porridge dishes at Canton Paradise because it comes with so many ingredients for a dish that is less than $10! The bowl of congee is served with crispy youtiao, five slices of fish, three strands of cuttlefish and garnished with spring onions, peanuts as well as coriander.
Our favourite ingredient by far was the youtiao, as it was fried to the point where it was really crispy! We would recommend eating it first to enjoy the crisp, although we know some of you may prefer dipping the youtiao into your porridge! The fish slices were soft and tender, and they were also not fishy.
The dish was pretty enjoyable on a rainy day and it was a rather generous serving that is guaranteed not to leave you hungry! That being said, Canton Paradise is pretty crowded (although Nex is always crowded) so do make a reservation to avoid having to queue for a long time.
