I will be honest and admit that I didn't expect much from Katsu-an's basic $5.90 katsudon because it costs as much as what I would expect to pay for a kopitiam cai png these days!

Each bowl of Japanese pearl rice comes topped with fluffy and savoury dashi seasoned scrambled eggs and onions, and a good sized portion of pork loin. I actually found myself enjoying their pork loin more as the meaty flavours were stronger and the quality of the pork loin at this price point!

Tbh if I am paying $10 for pork katsu, I would be better off with the 'M' chain of hawker stalls. But at $6 per bowl, their katsudon is really value for money considering the location!

And for those who are hungry and don't mind spending a little more, Katsu-an has upsize options ala Sukiya!
